Wide receiver Antonio Brown is apparently done with the Pittsburgh Steelers, considering he tweeted out a farewell video on Tuesday morning.

Anyone taking the affirmative on gambling whether or not Antonio Brown would be back with the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 10th season in 2019 might be thinking that was a bad idea, particularly after Brown tweeted a farewell video to the fans of the Steelers Tuesday morning.

Brown. whose four-year, $68 million contract extension he signed in 2017 doesn’t even kick in until this season, requested a trade last month and reiterated that request earlier this month.

The video was nice, though.

Brown has been one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL the last five years, with his string of All-Pro selections snapped in 2018 at four consecutive seasons.

He has twice led the NFL in receptions, catching 129 balls in 2014 and 136 in 2015, and has been the league leader in receiving yards twice as well, with 1,698 yards in 2014 and 1,533 yards in 2017.

Last season, he led the NFL with 15 touchdown receptions among his 104 grabs for 1,297 yards. His 12.5 yards per catch average was his lowest since his third season in 2012.

To say Brown exceeded expectations with the Steelers would be an understatement.

Brown was a sixth-round pick out of Central Michigan in 2010 and didn’t become a full-time starter until his third season, though he had 69 catches for 1,108 yards and two scores in his second season in 2011, earning the first of his seven Pro Bowl selections.

Brown is fourth among active players with 837 catches and 11,207 yards and fifth with 75 touchdown receptions.

Last season was the first time since 2012 that Brown didn’t lead the Steelers in receiving, as JuJi Smith-Schuster had 111 receptions for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns. Brown had two more targets, 168, than did Smith-Schuster, while playing in one fewer game.

Brown will be 31 by the time the 2019 season opens, but hasn’t shown signs of being less productive with six consecutive seasons with more than 100 receptions and more than 150 targets.

The question for the Steelers will be what they’ll be able to get in return.
