Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown tweeted out a goodbye video to the team’s fans on Monday, and here are five trade scenarios that could play out as a result.
The end seems near for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Antonio Brown, as he sent out a goodbye video via Twitter on Tuesday. Brown, who has been the top wideout in the NFL during his time in Pittsburgh, was benched for the team’s Week 17 matchup to end the 2018 NFL season, signaling the likely end to his run in the Steel City.
Here are five teams that need to trade for Brown immediately.
New York Jets
The New York Jets have a serious need for a standout wide receiver, especially with Robbie Anderson set to hit free agency. Last year, the Jets traded up for USC quarterback Sam Darnold, and he showed during his rookie season that he has the talent to be a standout signal-caller at the NFL level.
The problem is, not only do the Jets have issues on the offensive line, but Darnold has no significant talent to throw to. In Antonio Brown, he would have that legitimate No. 1 wide receiver that can help take his game to the next level, as the future of the franchise hinges on his right arm.
Darnold had his ups-and-downs as a rookie, but adding a talent like Brown instantly makes this offense that much better. Plus, how cool would it be to have both Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown playing in the same stadium on opposite weeks?
In order to get Brown away from the Steelers, the Jets will have to give up a high draft pick, and after the No. 3 overall selection, they do not hold another pick until the third round. They could trade away a third in 2019, as well as a first in 2020, and in return bring to New York another dynamic wide receiver.
Imagine the New York media eating that up.
