The San Francisco 49ers currently hold the No. 2 overall selection in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, after winning only four games during the 2018 season. The 49ers came into the year with very high expectations, as they signed Jimmy Garoppolo to a long-term deal, and added some talented pieces around him on both sides of the ball.

However, Jimmy G would end up getting hurt during the season, blowing out his knee, and the team really faltered after that. As they look towards the 2019 NFL season, there is a lot to like about this roster, and they could seriously improve their defense by picking up a talent like Josh Allen at pick No. 2.

During his time in Kentucky, Allen established himself as one of the elite edge rushers in college football, and would be a perfect fit on this 49ers defense moving forward. Allen capped off his incredible college career by harassing the Penn State offensive line in the Wildcats bowl game, showing that he can dominate even one of the best offensive lines in college football.

San Francisco should be much improved in 2019, as they will get Jerick McKinnon back at running back, and have some young pieces to build around. Kyle Shanahan is going to have to start putting together wins if he wants to continue to be the head coach in San Francisco, but the organization seems committed to him, and there is the opportunity this 49ers team could double their win total in 2019.
