The New York Jets traded up during the 2018 NFL Draft last year, as they had their eyes set on bringing in a franchise quarterback. The Jets were able to do just that in the first round, nabbing USC signal-caller Sam Darnold with the No. 3 overall selection in that draft, and he was inserted into the starting lineup as a rookie.

In 2019, the Jets will once again have the No. 3 overall pick, and they should look to bring in some talent on the other side of the ball. When it comes to pure talent in this draft class, there are very few players who can match Quinnen Williams from Alabama, and the Jets certainly need some help up front along their defensive line.

After winning only four games last season, it is pretty obvious that this Jets roster needs a lot of help on both sides of the ball. They have a new head coach at the helm in Adam Gase this season, but if they don’t revamp this roster in a major way, they could finish towards the cellar of the AFC East once again.

Williams makes a lot of sense for the Jets at No. 3, and at the NFL level, he has the size and the strength to be a dominant figure even in year one. The New England Patriots showed once again in 2019 that they are the dominant team in this division, and the Jets have a long way to go before they are a true threat for the AFC East crown, but talents like Williams are cornerstones they could build this defense on.
