The West Virginia Mountaineers were able to surprise and upset the Kansas Jayhawks earlier this season. Can they do it a second time?
The Kansas Jayhawks have been a bit up and down throughout the season. This is the No. 14 ranked team in the country with a 19-6 record, but Kansas has had some underwhelming performances this season. That would include the Jayhawks’ game against the West Virginia Mountaineers from roughly a month ago.
There’s nothing that West Virginia would love more than to find a way to take down Kansas for a second time this season. The Mountaineers are struggling this year and have just a 10-14 record so far. They could use something else to hang their hat on with this season. Beating Kansas twice would do just that.
The Mountaineers had the advantage of playing in their own arena last time. That won’t be the case with this game. KU will get the opportunity to host West Virginia in Allen Fieldhouse at home in Lawrence, Kansas. This would give the Jayhawks the chance to extend their current winning streak out to three-consecutive games.

West Virginia is truly desperate at this point to simply win any game that it can. The Mountaineers are having a rough year and they need any wins that they can get to help balance this season out and make it somewhat redeemable.
The Jayhawks haven’t always been able to play consistent to the level of talent that they have on their roster. Kansas should be able to come out and win this game big, but it wouldn’t be a complete and total surprise to see West Virginia make things challenging and interesting for the Jayhawks.
