NHL DFS Man Advantage Saturday February 16th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Saturday night February 16th! Tonight we have a nice sized 9 game NHL slate to play tonight. There are a bunch of great options in all tiers tonight which should make for some varied roster builds . We get to play the hottest player in the league in Nikita Kucherov, and the hottest lines in hockey in Bostons top line.
Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:
7PM:
Toronto @ Arizona
Ottawa @ Winnipeg
Montreal @ Tampa Bay
Edmonton @ NY Islanders
8PM:
Dallas @ Carolina
8:30PM:
Columbus @ Chicago
10PM:
Nashville @ Vegas
Vancouver @ San Jose
10:30PM:
Boston @ Los Angeles
NHL DFS Goalies:
Tonight we have a few top goalies that are all in the same price range. First at the top of the price range is Robin Lehner and Martin Jones ($8,300). Both have equally good matchups in Edmonton and Vancouver respectively and both are also at home. Lehner has alternated wins and losses in his last 4 starts (lost in his last start) but has only given up 10 goals. As far as Jones goes he had won 5 in a row until he lost to Washington on Thursday, and over his last 6 games Jones has a 3.00 GAA. Jones gets a home matchup with a Vancouver team who has just 11 goals in their last 4 games.
Next up in net is Frederick Andersen ($8,200) on the road in Arizona. There is a chance Garret Sparks ($8,000) starts since he has only started 2 games since the start of February and if Sparks does start, he is also worth consideration. Andersen has won 5 straight games allowing only 13 goals during his 5 game win streak
My last two goalies are Tuukka Rask and Andrei Vasilevskiy ($8,100). Honestly you can’t go wrong it would seem with any of these 5 goalies, it pretty much comes down to if they start (we know Rask is starting already) how much you want so spend. If I had to suggest 1 over the rest it would most likely be Martin Jones.
NHL DFS Top Forwards:
Top Tier:
Nikita Kucherov ($7,700) – Kucherov had cooled off for a while, but has caught fire once again. Over his last 3 games Kucherov has 4 goals and 7 assists and is averaging 10.8 FPPG. In 2 games against Montreal this season Kucherov has 1 goal and 3 assists and a 5.8 FPPG average.
John Tavares ($7,200) – Tavares has 3 goals and 6 assists in his last 6 games and has an average of 5.9 FPPG. Along with linemates Zach Hyman and Mitch Marner they make for a good play as a stack or mini stack
Tomas Hertl ($6,700) – In his last 10 games Hertl has been one of the best players in the league with 7 goals and 5 assists while centering the Sharks 2nd line and the team’s top PP unit (More about the PP unit later). Hertl is also averaging 5 FPPG over his last 10, a full point more than his season average.
Mid Tier:
Alex DeBrincat ($6,400) – Speaking of hot players, DeBrincat has been on fire too for the Blackhawks. Chicago has to be pleasantly surprised with the point output they’ve received from him. DeBrincat had his 9 game point streak snapped last game against New Jersey, but during his streak he has 5 multi point games and totaled 6 goals and 10 assists. DeBrincat and Dylan Strome make for a nice mini stack tonight against Columbus.
Ryan Johansen ($5,700) – Johansen is riding a 6 game point streak currently during which he has scored 2 goals and 7 assists. Over his point streak Johansen is averaging 5.4 FPPG and playing over 20 minutes per game.
Jordan Eberle ($4,800) – Since the NBA is on their All Star break I figured I would throw out a revenge narrative for Brian. Eberle was traded away from Edmonton after spending 7 years there.
Value Tier:
Chris Tierney ($3,600) – Tierney comes into Saturday night’s game riding a 4 game assists streak during which he has 5 assists. Even though he centers the Sens 4th line currently, Tierney does center the teams 2nd PP unit allowing him to play minutes in the mid teens.
Cody Eakin ($3,600) – Eakin has points in 3 straight games for Vegas with a goal and 2 assists in that span while centering the teams 3rd line. Unfortunately Eakin doesn’t play on the PP so his value is limited. At the same price as Tierney, I would rather take him over Eakin, unless you want to stack him with Brandon Pirri who does play on the power play.
Nick Cousins ($3,300) – Cousins has 1 goal and 4 assists in the Yotes last 4 games as well as averaging over 3 FPPG, 1 full point higher than his season average. Cousins is centering the 2nd line with Alex Galchenyuk and Clayton Keller as well as centering the 2nd PP unit. I really like Cousins value tonight as a one-off because of his TOI, over his last ten games Cousins is averaging 18 minutes per game which is pretty high for a player of his price.
NHL DFS Top Defenseman:
Pay Up Dman:
Erik Gustafsson ($5,400) – Gustafsson has emerged as the Blackhawks top offensive defenseman this season with 12 goals and 25 assists on the season. Over his last 3 games Gustafsson has 1 goal and 2 assists.
