NHL DFS Man Advantage Tuesday February 19th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Tuesday night February 19th! Tonight we get a pretty big 9 game slate with a lot of great games and the potential for a bunch of goals going in tonight. In a very rare occurrence as well, all my top plays in net at under $8,000.
Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:
7PM:
Buffalo @ Florida
Pittsburgh @ New Jersey
Tampa Bay @ Philadelphia
NY Rangers @ Carolina
7:30PM:
Columbus @ Montreal
8PM:
Toronto @ St. Louis
Anaheim @ Minnesota
8:30PM:
Nashville @ Dallas
9PM:
Arizona @ Edmonton
NHL DFS Goalies:
As I mentioned above the goaltending position is a place I plan on finding some value tonight, and that is why my top pick on the night is Darcy Keumper ($7,300) in Edmonton tonight. Keumper is coming in a winner of 3 of his last 4 games including a shutout of Toronto in his last start. Not only has Keumper played well of late, but he also owns a victory over the Oilers this season in which he stopped 23 shots and earned 5.6 fantasy points.
Another goalie I am interested in is Frederik Andersen ($7,900) against St. Louis. Andersen has his 5 game personal win streak snapped by the Coyotes and our top goalie on Saturday, but Andersen did make 27 stops and 3.4 points in the loss. St. Louis averages 31.3 shots per game and Toronto allows 33.6 per game.
I am also interested in both goalies in the Florida and Buffalo game, which we already know James Reimer ($7,800) is starting and I would think Linus Ullmark ($7,700) gets the start since Hutton started Sunday night and lost.
NHL DFS Top Forwards:
Top Tier:
Sidney Crosby ($7,700) – The NHL’s 3rd star of the week is in, as usual, great form currently and has a matchup against a Devil team he loves to play against. In his last 12 games against New Jersey the Penguins captain has 8 goals and 8 assists. Crosby also is riding a 5 game point streak during which he has three 3 point games and a total of 2 goals and 9 assists. If you want to stack with the Pens tonight you can attack 1 of 2 ways, either with Crosby and the Pens 1st line, or the way I plan on going, with the Pens top PP unit.
Vladimir Tarasenko ($7,300) – Tarasenko is currently on a 12 game point streak, and has multiple points in 5 straight. During his 5 game multi point streak the Blues superstar winger has 7 goals and 6 assists. Tarasenko and the Blues top line is a good stacking option as well, if you think Andersen is going to be beaten tonight.
Sean Couturier ($6,700) – Couturier and the Flyers get Tampa on the second night of a back to back and will probably get backup goalie Louis Domingue in net. Even though he has won his last 10 starts, the Flyer did score 5 goals in their last game against him and took 45 shots. Couturier has scored a goal and added 2 assists in 2 games against Tampa this season as well as average 5.5 FPPG, and he is riding a currnet 3 game multi point streak as well.
Mid Tier:
Mats Zuccarello ($6,400) – Zucc has been on fire for the Rangers of late with a 4 gme point streak, with 3 of those games scoring multiple points. Zuccarello’s time might be coming to an end in NY and he is showing all the Rangers potential trade partners his worth, and also his potential fantasy owners the same.
Teuvo Teravainen ($5,800) – Turbo has been playing some of his best hockey over the last 10 games with 12 points and a 4.3 FPPG average. During his hot streak Teravainen also has 4 multi point games, and has also picked up a goal in 3 games against the Rangers this season. I like stacking Teravainen with part of the Hurricanes top PP unit, specifically Sebastian Aho and Nino Niederreiter.
Travis Zajac ($4,800) – Travis Zajac makes the list tonight for one reason, he has been dominant against the Penguins this season. In 3 games Zajac has 3 goals, 4 assists, and is average 7 FPPG. Zajac centers the Devils 2nd line with Miles Wood and Kyle Palmieri as well as the first PP unit.
Value Tier:
Jaden Schwartz ($4,400) – Schwartz has 2 goals and 2 assists in the Blues last 5 games with a 2.8 FPPG avg. I know I mentioned Andersen as a goalie I like tonight, but St. Louis might be a good play too, so if you play multiple lineups it could benefit you hedge this game and play Andersen in one lineup and then a Blues stack in another lineup.
Jakob Silfverberg ($4,200) – Silfverberg has 3 goals in his last 3 games and will look to keep rolling against a Minnesota team who is one of the worst in the league right now. The Wild have lost 8 of 9 and have allowed 34 goals in those 9 games for a 3.8 GA/G average. I will definitely look at some Ducks for tonight besides Silfverberg.
Ryan Strome ($3,100) – Strome is on a 4 game point streak with 1 goal and 3 assists during his point streak. New York has scored 18 goals in their last 4 games, so I definitely want some exposure to this game and Strome, and his PP linemate, Pavel Buchnevich ($3,500) are good and inexpensive plays. Buchnevich has 3 goals in 3 games against the Hurricanes this season.
NHL DFS Top Defensemen:
Pay Up Dman:
Kris Letang ($6,500) – Letang has scored 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 games while playing nearly 25 minutes per game. I like the idea of paying up for Letang and putting him together with Crosby and either Evgeni Malkin or Phil Kessel for a Penguins PP stack.

Other options: Kevin Shattenkirk ($4,100) , Marcus Pettersson ($3,200)
