NHL DFS Man Advantage Wednesday February 20th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday night February 20th! Tonight we get a small 4 game slate, but once again we have some of the top goal scoring teams in the league on a small slate. In their last games Chicago put up 8 goals, Calgary scored 5, and Boston put 6 up, and if these offenses play like they did on Monday we could be in for another night with some huge scores.
Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:
7:30PM:
Chicago @ Detroit
8:30PM:
Winnipeg @ Colorado
9:30PM:
NY Islanders @ Calgary
10PM:
Boston @ Vegas
NHL DFS Goalies:
Tonight the goaltending situation is a little messy. We have some pretty good potential starters in guys like Marc-Andre Fleury ($7,900), Robin Lehner ($7,200), and Jaroslav Halak ($7,500) but they all face some pretty potent offenses and I am not sure I want to play any of them, especially in cash.
So, with that being said, my top goalie tonight is going to be Cam Ward ($7,700) on the road against Detroit. Ward came in to replace Collin Delia on Monday night and earned the win. We should see Ward again tonight against a team in Detroit he beat earlier this season with a 43 save performance earning him 9.6 DKFP.
My other option in net is Connor Hellebuyck ($8,100) against Colorado. Hellebuyck hasn’t been great this season but he is still extremely talented and has a matchup against Colorado, a team he has fared very well against. In his last 5 starts against the Av’s, Hellebuyck has won 4 of those 5 and has only allowed 12 goals in those 5 games.
NHL DFS Top Forwards:
Patrick Kane ($8,000) – It’s a small slate, it’s Patrick Kane, do you need any other reason to play him? He will be chalk, but sometimes we eat the chalk and like it. In his last 10 against the Wings Kane has 4 goals and 6 assists. Kane also has an assist in 17 straight games, which only Adam Oates and Wayne Gretzky have had longer streaks, so needless to say Kane is in some good company. If you are playing Kane, you might as well play his center Jonathan Toews ($7,400) and look to find some value to help make this stack work
Elias Lindholm ($6,600) – Lindholm is often the forgotten member of the Flames top line with Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan who usually get the attention, and well deserved, but Lindholm has been playing some his best hockey recently. In his last 5 games Lindholm has 2 goals and 6 assists as well as averaging 5.5 DKFP per game.
David Krejci ($5,300)/Jake DeBrusk ($5,000) – Like Kane and Toews they are line mates and have been scorching hot. Krejci has points in 4 straight with 3 multi point games during his streak totaling 2 goals and 7 assists. As for DeBrusk he also has points in 4 straight, and also has 3 multi point games totaling, yep, 9 points like Krejci, except DeBrusk has 4 goals and 5 assists. If you stack these two with the Hawks mini stack and play Ward in net you will have $4,150 left per player (1 W, 1 Util, 2 D) which is actually pretty good if you pick some of the value I have coming up below.
Anthony Mantha ($5,000) – In his last 4 games Mantha has 2 goals and 2 assists while averaging 4.9 DKFP per game. Mantha plays on the Wings top line with Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi, as well as the top PP unit.
Josh Bailey ($4,700) – Bailey has back to back multi point games and points in 3 of his last 4. Even though Calgary is the top team in the west they have been susceptible to giving up a few goals per game, like during their last 5 games they have allowed an average of 3.8 per game.
Brandon Tanev ($3,900) – Tanev has a goal and an assist in 3 games with the Avalanche this season, and averages 3.3 DKFP. In his last 4 games Tanev has 2 goals and an assist, but is averaging 4.2 DKFP per game.
Derek Ryan ($2,700) – Yes, Derek Ryan does center the 4th line for Calgary, but he also centers the 2nd PP unit and plays just over 13 minutes per game. For this price you can’t really ask for much more than that, but a player like Ryan, who does have a goal and 3 assists in his last two games, all you are looking for is a few shots on goal, if you get points that’s just bonus then. Another real cheap option is Adrew Agozzino ($2,700) who played his first game of the season on Tuesday against Colorado in which he scored a goal and added an assist.
NHL DFS Top Defensemen:
Pay Up:
Tyson Barrie ($5,100) – Barrie does have 3 assists against Winnipeg this season, but over his last 4 games Barrie has been held off the score board of late. Even though he has no points in the last 4 he is averagin 3.25 DKFP per game thanks to his 16 SOG and 10 BS.

Other Options: Torey Krug ($5,500), Mike Green ($5,000)
Pay Down:
Devon Toews ($3,400) – Toews was hot when he first came up, but had cooled off until recently. In his last 4 games he does have 1 goal and 3 assists and he is also playing a ton of minutes, over 18 minutes of TOI in the last 4. Toews is a good pairing partner for Bailey as they both play on the same PP unit together.
Other options: Ben Chiarot ($3,500),Rasmus Andersson ($2,700)
