How can you watch the Showtime season premiere of Desus and Mero with special guest Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
Desus Nice and The Kid Mero finally return to TV tonight with the Thursday, Nov. 21 premiere on their new talkshow Desus and Mero on Showtime. Fans will no doubt be on the hunt for a Showtime log-in or a viable workaround like, say, a free seven-day trial from FuboTV.
The Bodega Boys lore is well-known to fans at this point, for the uninitiated, it goes something like this. Desus and Mero first connected through Twitter, where they discovered a shared sense of humor, Bronx background and Knicks-fan-based pain. They started a podcast, called Bodega Boys, that gave rise to their very own fan hashtag #BodegaHive. Then, there was a Viceland talk show — the original Desus and Mero — that they parlayed into the Showtime show. (The break from Vice was, at Desus put it, “messy” when Vice ended their contract two months early.)
Now on premium cable, the duo are doing the exact same thing they’ve always done, but scaled up to a 11 with a Showtime budget and a writer’s room. There will be guests, there will be their trademark rapid-fire evaluation of the news and now they’ll be skits too.
Desus and Mero will be Showtime’s first talk show effort and they appear to be willing to the let the men do their thing. Gary Levine, co-president of entertainment at Showtime told Variety, “We give them the resources and the time to realize all of their ambition on their show, [but] there’s nothing we impose…Our goal is to have Desus and Mero be Desus and Mero.”
For their first guest, the two will welcome Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
