Borussia Dortmund face Bayer Leverkusen at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday, Feb. 24. Here’s all the info you need to watch online.
When the Bundesliga season resumed following the winter break, it looked like Bayern Munich’s six-year title run was going to end. Borussia Dortmund held a commanding seven points lead after losing only once in the first half of the season. After three straight draws, the Bundesliga title race is wide open again. Bayern have moved within three points of Dortmund with 12 games to play, including one against each other. On Sunday, Dortmund host Bayer Leverkusen, who have charged up the table following a poor start to the season.
In their last game, Dortmund and last place Nurnberg played to a scoreless draw. Dortmund have not won since Marco Reus was injured and he is not expected to play against Leverkusen. With Reus sidelined, Dortmund have turned to Mario Gotze who has played well but is a sizeable downgrade from Reus. Lucien Favre has also struggled to find a solution to replace center-back Manuel Akanji who is expected to miss the majority of the season. Dortmund’s defense has been worse since losing Akanji.
Leverkusen picked up eight points in their first eight games. At the winter break, Leverkusen fired Heiko Herrlich and replaced him with former Dortmund manager Peter Bosz. After losing his first game in charge, Leverkusen have won four straight and have outscored their opponents 13-2. Kai Havertz is the next great German player. At 19 years old, Havertz has been Leverkusen’s best player, scoring nine goals. Havertz will drive the attack for Leverkusen, creating chances for the front three of Kevin Volland, Leon Bailey, and Karim Bellarabi.
