JuanBond back again with something new from FantasyCPR, and this time we will cover Daily Fantasy Golf for the contests available from our friends at Fantasy Draft!

Since I decided to morph the old DRAFT Daily Fantasy Golf article into a more universal power rankings piece, in addition to the standard FanDuel picks I do weekly, I will now provide for you the golfers I am targeting for contests on Fantasy Draft as well.

The infamous Picks and Pivots NBA and MLB articles here from site expert Brian Tulloch and FantasyCPR center around Fantasy Draft, and they really do have a unique platform, and offer a different DFS experience. If you still are not a part of the fun on Fantasy Draft, sign up here.

Now that you are signed up, our friends at Fantasy Draft have once again decided to kindly host another freeroll for all of our FantasyCPR readers! They have been kind enough to do regular NBA freerolls multiple times a week for Picks and Pivots, and they have extended that offer to PGA as well! Therefore, I present to you, the Picks and “Divots” freeroll from Fantasy Draft and FantasyCPR!

If you are new to Fantasy Draft be sure to check out the unique roster construction. Instead of picking six golfers as you do on most DFS sites, you pick seven, and your lowest golfers score is dropped.

If you are looking for course history information and just some general information about this event, be sure to check out my PGA Power Rankings for this week, released Monday night. Those rankings, along with some picks for FanDuel, can only be found right here at FantasyCPR on our Fantasy Golf page.

Daily Fantasy Golf: PGA Fantasy Draft Top Plays – The Honda Classic

Justin Thomas – $18,800

Since I started with the PGA Power Rankings a couple of weeks ago, I started getting my weekly research in a little earlier than normal in an effort to stay ahead, and get my articles out early. What that led me to, is digging into the upcoming weeks field starting on Saturday night, and just getting a feel for where some golfers may be priced at.

Well as you are finding out now, there are clearly three top dogs in this field, and as of Saturday night, JT here was looking like an easy expensive fade this week. Thomas had just struggled to rounds of 73 and 74, and a huge Sunday just didn’t seem in the cards. However, JT went on to shoot 62 on Sunday in pretty impressive fashion, and crept his way all the up to the top-ten.

For him not to mail it in there is the main reason why I am all in this week. I know he was my pick to win last week, but Brooks Koepka has not been playing well, or played well here, and Rickie Fowler just won a few weeks ago, and he just hasn’t been the golfer to string a bunch of wins in a row together throughout his career. With some solid value and punt plays I feel pretty strongly about this week, I will have 100% Thomas on FantasyDraft. If one of those three does not pull off the win this week, my next best bet is this guy.

Adam Scott – $16,700

It was around this time last year, when it looked like Adam Scott’s career was on a steady decline that seemed impossible to turn around. But the 2016 Honda Classic champion played really well here almost unexpectedly for a past champion considering how poor his form was. He ended up +1, which was good for a T-13 finish.

Scott has played four events thus far in 2019, and has been either really hot or missed the cut. He was technically an MDF at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am so he did make the initial cut, but rounds of 72 and 75 at the Sony Open back in January led to a full on missed cut. In his last action, Scott finished T-7 at the Genesis Open, and he was right in it until Sunday, when he struggled to a 76.

Scott was also solid at the Farmers Insurance Open at the end of January, and narrowly missed a victory. He fired a 19-under, which was good for a solo second place finish. With a win in 2016 and back-to-back top-15’s here at Honda Classic the last three years, his course history is as good as any, and I will be starting most of the lineups with Scott and JT this week.

Daily Fantasy Golf: PGA Fantasy Draft Value Plays – The Honda Classic

Michael Thompson – $14,200

He is going to be pretty chalky here across the industry this week, but I am on board with Thompson at this price. The 33-year-old is in arguably the best form of his career, with four straight top-15’s and three top-10’s in his last four events. On top of the recent form being solid, Thompson is another past champion here at the PGA National and the Honda Classic, and that came back in 2013. He is coming off of a T-7 at the Riviera and the Genesis Open.

Since his victory in 2013, it was a struggle here at times for Thompson at the Honda Classic. He missed the cut in 2014 and 2017, and while he did make the cut in 2015 and 2016, the finishes or the final scores were nothing to write home about. Thompson finished T-44 in 2015 and T-53 in 2016. If it wasn’t for his +3, T-24 finish last year, I wouldn’t have put much credence into his victory here, considering it came prior to renovations. However, he proved last year he can still play well here, and his recent form suggests he could be right in the mix on Sunday.

Lucas Glover – $14,100

Glover cruised through the fall, notching top-20 after top-20, and was on quite the streak until he missed the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. I think it was a fluke, as he bounced back well fighting through the horrible conditions and long rounds of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, en route to a T-7 finish. Another consistent cut-maker, Glover is a bargain at this price in my opinion.

He has had some success here at PGA National as well. Last year, Glover T-17 and in 2017 he was solid as well, finishing T-21. He missed the cut in 2015 and 2016, but it seems he has some figured some things out about this course over the last two years. It also seems as though he could be just as popular of a play this week as Thompson will be, so if you are looking for some pivots in this price range, consider the three names below.

***Also Consider: Luke List $14,800 – Alex Noren $14,700 – Scott Piercy $14,300***

Daily Fantasy Golf: PGA Fantasy Draft GPP Punt Plays – The Honda Classic

Cheng-Tsung Pan – $12,700

Another course horse if you will, Pan has played well here at the Honda Classic in limited action. In his debut in 2017, he had a fairly solid all around game, finishing 1-under, and T-37. Not bad for a first timer at a tough course.

More from FanSided

He returned last year, and although he lost strokes putting and slipped to a +2, it was still good for a T-17. It appears he has a good feel for the course, and at under $13K should be quite popular here on FantasyDraft this week.

Pan has made four cuts in a row, and his T-44 at the Genesis Open in his last action was also his best finish in that span. The form isn’t great, and it isn’t bad either, but he has been good here, and all he needs to do to pay off his price tag is make the cut.

Satoshi Kodaira – $11,200

The 29-year-old Kodaira is a veteran on the Japanese Tour, where he has had enough success to earn the world’s 59th ranking. He has been playing more on the PGA Tour this season, and this will be his first appearance at the Honda Classic and PGA National. He was a late add to the field for the WGC-Mexico last week, and while he struggled for the most part for three days, he was able to put it all together on Sunday, and shoot an impressive 64 to close it out.

If you want a safer play at this range, I would say pivot up to the veteran Stewart Cink, or consider young Chilean up-and-comer Joaquin Niemann. Niemann isn’t in the greatest form as of late, but a young player of his caliber will get it back soon, and this is a great price for just talent alone.
