2019 NFL mock draft: Quarterbacks go early after trades
By Brad Weiss
After beating the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl earlier this month, the New England Patriots will head into the 2019 NFL Draft with the No. 32 overall pick. Last week, they found out they would be getting some compensatory selections as well, and currently have 12 picks this April.
While Bill Belichick and company are likely to move some of those picks for other assets, if they do stay in the first round, it would be good for them to bring in an edge rusher. There are a ton of players in this draft class who can help right away at that position, including Boston College’s Zach Allen.
Playing at Boston College, the Patriots would be bringing in a homegrown talent, and a guy who could end up being a dominant force off the edge for them. He plays the game with incredible passion, and is the kind of player that Belichick likes, a guy who puts his head down and works on his craft.
The Patriots should be right back in the mix for the top spot in the AFC once again in 2019, but they have to do a better job in bolstering this defense. They stepped up big time in the playoffs, holding the Rams to only three points in the Super Bowl, but they showed kinks in the armor all season long.
