1. Houston Texans

At first glance, it may not seem like the Houston Texans really need Golden Tate. Deshaun Watson made beautiful magic with DeAndre Hopkins in the regular season and has a great chemistry with Will Fuller, but both of those players play primarily on the outside.

The Texans’ offense wasn’t the same once Fuller went down with a torn ACL, and they were anemic in their first round playoff exit against Indianapolis. With the pressure on for Bill O’Brien in his sixth year at the helm to make a deep playoff run, finding a guy who can operate in the middle of the field could unlock the Houston offense.

Adding Tate would make a ton of sense for the Texans, who don’t have a proven pass catcher at tight end and utilized rookie Keke Coutee in that role before Fuller got hurt. Tate would be a huge upgrade at that position and bring a ton of playoff pedigree to a team that is trying to learn how to win.

Cap space also isn’t an issue for the Texans, who have about $78 million to spend entering the offseason. Signing Tate to boost the offense shouldn’t cost a ton of money and would leave the Texans with plenty of cash to upgrade the rest of their roster.
