NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Center
Dylan Strome Blackhawks ($5,400)
Strome looks like a solid value play at this price point, especially since joining the Blackhawks. Not only has he been paired with his former OHL linemate and sniper Alex DeBrincat, but he also sees major power play time with the first unit featuring Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and DeBrincat.
The number three overall pick in the 2015 pick was looking like a bust. But it looks like all he needed was a new scene. Through 20 games to start the season with the Coyotes, Strome had three goals and three assists. In 39 games with the Blackhawks, he has 13 goals and 24 assists.
Brayden Point Lightning ($7,300)
Point has been having a career year, along with seemingly everyone in Tampa. As a team, they sit at 48-11 and have already reached the 100 point mark. Point has established himself as one of the leagues more potent goal-getters. He has followed up a career best 32 goals with 36 goals and 21 games left to play.
Point has a league leading 18 power play goals. His success can largely be attributed to playing alongside arguably the best players in the NHL Nikita Kucherov. With seven points in his last five games, look for Brayden Point to continue his tear with on the hottest teams in the NHL.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Winger
Alex DeBrincat Blackhawks ($6,500)
The way the Blackhawks have produced on offense, it feels like a safe bet to stack. Strome and DeBrincat pair up on the Hawks second line in 5-on-5 action and have proven their chemistry since the all-star break. The knock on DeBrincat has always been his size, which is why he slid in the draft.
Debuting last year at 20-years old, the Cat proved doubters wrong and finished with 28 goals and 24 assists. He has Bill Goldberg speared his way through any thoughts of a sophomore slump with 34 goals and 28 assists. If you don’t want to spend up on Patrick Kane, pairing the flaming hot DeBrincat and Strome at a cheaper price may be the best bet.
Nikita Kucherov Lightning ($7,500)
Expensive, yes. Chalky, yes. But you have to ask yourself one question. Will you feel comfortable fading the NHL’s leading point scorer averaging 1.60 PPG? I wouldn’t. Kucherov’s possession numbers are great this season with a CF% and FF% of 53.0. The way the Lightning are playing this season, Kuch is the safest bet to lead your lineup.
Kucherov and Point have been one of, if not the top offensive duo this season. They lead the team’s first power play unit and are matching up with a team that’s looking to rebuild. The Rangers recently moved two of their top players in Kevin Hayes and Mats Zuccarello. Look for the Lightning to take advantage of a Rangers team short on talent.
NHL DFS DraftKings Snipes – Defense and Goalie
Jake Muzzin Leafs ($4,700)
The newly acquired Jake Muzzin was gifted the opportunity to join a young and potent offense with Toronto. He is the cheaper of the two options in the Leafs top defensive pairing. Muzzin gets a matchup against a Oilers team that ranks 21st in the NHL against opposing defense.
He has been given plenty of ice time with his new team and should keep building rapport with the young studs, Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner and John Tavares.
Corey Crawford Blackhawks ($7,600)
It was not long ago when Crawford was considered an elite goalie in the NHL. These past two seasons have been a bit of a roller coaster with an aging team in front of him and a few untimely injuries. Crow has barely seen any action this season, but Wednesday night seems as good of a night as ever to plug him into your lineup.
The Blackhawks have still had their struggles on defense. They have given up a handful of shots on net. This could be a double-edged sword. If Crawford shakes off the rust quickly, he could rack up the saves and get you a win against a weak Anaheim offense.
The position has not yet been confirmed for Chicago, so it is something to keep an eye on. However, as the late game on the slate, I am comfortable plugging Cam Ward in my lineup should Crawford be a no-go.
