A look at the current depth chart of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (via Ourlads) shows that the team has four middle linebackers listed. And four-year pro Kwon Alexander, as well as reserves Kevin Minter and Adarius Taylor will see their current contracts expire on the afternoon of March 13.

Of course, Alexander is one of the Bucs’ defensive players and it’s hard to imagine that he will be going anywhere. Injuries limited him to only six games and starts in 2018. Still, the talented pro finished with 45 tackles, one sack, a pair of forced fumbles and two passes defensed. Expect the club to secure his services for the long-term sooner than later.

But what about depth at this spot? Minter played only five games with the team this past season. But keep in mind that he performed for new head coach Bruce Arians for four seasons in Arizona (2013-16). Could the six-year pro get another chance with the club’s newest sideline leader?

In any case, the Bucs could turn to inside linebacker Will Compton, who could add depth to the defense and be a pivotal part of the special teams. He played in 12 games for the Tennessee Titans this past year and made a pair of starts in his first season with that club (after 5 years with the Washington Redskins). The six-year performer totaled eight stops on defense and eight tackles on the kick coverage units.
