Guard

The Atlanta Falcons have been piecing things together for a few years at the guard position. They have utilized a combination of Ben Garland, Andy Levitre and Brandon Fusco. Youngster Sean Harlow is also someone who may get a look.

Levitre and Garland are pending free agents while Fusco is coming off a major injury. The Falcons need to find some stability at an important position. Unfortunately, they don’t have much cap space to add a high-impact player.

There are some former starters like Quintin Spain and John Brown that would represent solid options. Both have their question marks, but have been solid starters at some point in their careers.

One big name free agent that appears to be out of the Falcons price range is Rodger Saffold. However, that would be a great addition for Atlanta.

The draft offers a solid fit in Oklahoma’s Cody Ford who spend time at tackle in college but projects as a guard at the next level. Ford is someone could warrant coming off the board within the top 15 picks.

Over the past few years, Atlanta has focused more on bargain free agents or veteran fill ins in order to patch this hole. It’s possible that the Falcons again go in this direction.
