The final season of The Big Bang Theory is close to being finished.
The comedy series on CBS has absolutely dominated the ratings over its 12 season run, but, unfortunately, there are only a few episodes remaining.
The decision to end the show with season 12 seems to come from Jim Parsons saying that he would not return if the series was renewed for yet another season, but the consistency of the ratings hints that the series would have been fine without him.
It may just be that this is The Big Bang Theory‘s time, and 12 seems like a good number to end the series before the ratings start to rapidly decline in favor of other series — and spin-offs like Young Sheldon.
That being said, season 12 is not over just yet. However, season 12 has been extremely inconsistent lately, with it feeling like there is a new episode every once in a while than each week.
After the midseason break, there were three straight week-to-week episodes followed by a skipped episode on Jan. 24. Since then, The Big Bang Theory has skipped two more weeks, including Feb. 14 (Valentine’s Day) and now Feb. 28 as well.
