DraftKings EuroLeague Basketball Picks February 28

We are back to another balanced one round week for our DraftKings EuroLeague tournaments this week. We have a lot of high prices on this slate, but there is some decent value to put a couple of them in your lineups. Which ones should we aim for?

There are still some big injuries here. but the big story is the return of Alexey Shved. Don’t expect Khimki to ease him back in either. Nate Wolters, Tyler Ennis, Nikla Radicevic, Kendrick Ray, Luke Nelson, Nikos Pappas, Jayson Granger, Arturas Gudaitis, Anthony Gill, Tornike Shengelia, Luke Fischer, Antanas Kavaliauskas, Matt Lojeski, Eulis Baez, Anzejs Pasecniks, Joffrey Lauvergne, and Deshaun Thomas are all out. The Thomas loss is huge since he was playing so well, be we have someone that can step in. Dee Bost was also released by Khimki, who just signed Andrew Harrison.

Keep an eye on the injuries to Kim Tillie, Oguz Savas, Amadeo Della Valle, Andrea Cinciarini, Al Oliver, and Matt Janning. None of those have huge impacts, but Janning could be in play if he plays. So could Tillie.

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

For DraftKings EuroLeague, we can’t expect 5x value like in the NBA. Most winning lineups are around 180-200 DraftKings points, which is around 3.5 – 4x value.

DraftKings EuroLeague Guards:

I know Shved is on this slate, but Mike James is still priced higher. I would actually consider fading him for Shved here. Shved put up 45.5 against Milan early this year. James had 41. We really can’t use both since they would take up $28,000 of our $50,000 cap, but I think we have to play one.

However, if you elect not to, the just shy of elite tier of guards is strong with great matchups as well. I wont play Nick Calathes since Gran Canaria has been blown out in seven of the last ten rounds. Toney Douglas and Scottie Wilbekin look like better options, but I still honestly believe we need a sure 40. None of these guys can provide that.

With so many options, there is really no need to mess with poor matchups like with all of the guards from Efes and Fenerbahce. Give me Luca Vildoza against Zalgiris instead. Sean Kilpatrick looks like a nice play, even against Gran Canaria.

Most of the middle tier is full of decent players with decent matchups who didn’t perform well the first time in said matchup. I think I am avoiding the entire middle tier with the possible exception of Curtis jenkins, but I do expect the return of Shved to hurt him.

Keith Langford was huge in his return last round, and is still very underpriced here. I would use him as a value play in any lineup, and over Jannero Pargo. You can use both if you need to though.

Thomas Walkup did struggle in his first game against Baskonia, but with the way he is playing right now, I just don’t see Zalgiris cutting his minutes.

Markel Brown made his return last round after it was said he would be unavailable. His minutes aren’t back to what they were before the injury, but he could still be a strong value play with his price so low.

DraftKings EuroLeague Forwards:

Jordan Mickey has played out of his mind with Shved out. While he had good numbers with Shved on the court, Mickey was nowhere near where we need him for this price. If I’m going to spend that kind of money, I actually think Shved is the safer play unless he and Mickey prove they can coexist.

More from FanSided

Johnny O’Bryant had one of his best games of the season in the first meeting with Darussafaka. JOB has been a consistent force lately, and I think I will play him over both of the Khimki bigs. It was a great run for Mickey and especially Malcolm Thomas, but I want to see how they do with Shved back before I take the plunge again. Tarik Black was a monster in that game as well.

Jan Vesely is back, and he is priced low because of injury. Vesely put up 45.5 DraftKings points in the first game against Efes, but I can see Fenerbahce limiting his minutes coming off of knee surgery.

Ioannis Papapetrou is in a big spot here with Deshaun Thomas out. He played 35 minutes against Khimki last round, and is going to get big run here again. Papapetrou is kind of expensive, but I think he can score among the best forwards today. James Gist should see a nice bump in production as well.

Milan has been starting James Nunnally in domestic games, but that has yet to carry over into the EuroLeague. Still, Nunnally is putting up good numbers for the price here. If he winds up starting, I’ll have a lot of Nunnally. If Jeff Brooks starts, I’ll have him instead.

Ondrej Balvin has been the most consistent Gran Canaria forward, but this team is the EuroLeague version of the Nets. Gran Canaria plays a lot of guys about the same amount of minutes. That makes it hard to predict who will succeed from game to game, but Balvin has been as consistent as you could want.

Ahmet Duverioglu has been strong off of the Fenerbahce bench, and has actually carved out nearly half the game for himself. Konstantinos Mitoglu is about the only other value play I have interest in just because someone has to step into minutes with Thomas out. I doubt it’s Thanassis Antetokounmpo. Pitino hasn’t played him much at all
