NHL DFS Man Advantage Thursday February 28th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Thursday night February 28th! Tonight we get a 7 game slate which is pretty small for a Thursday night. This is another slate where we have a plethora of scoring with Tampa and Toronto on the second night of back to backs, as well as the suddenly high-powered Coyotes, and the Panthers.
Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:
7PM:
Toronto @ NY Islanders
Philadelphia @ Columbus
7:30PM:
Tampa Bay @ Boston
Edmonton @ Ottawa
9PM:
Vancouver @ Arizona
10PM:
Florida @ Vegas
10:30PM:
Dallas @ Los Angeles
NHL DFS Goalies:
My top goalie tonight is Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,000) in a home matchup with Philadelphia tonight. Bobrovsky hasn’t been great, but he did have back to back shutouts recently (2/22 and 2/23) before losing to the Penguins on Tuesday. Philadelphia is averaging 3 goals per game in their last 5, meanwhile Bobrovsky has only allowed 9 goals in his last 5 starts.
Across the ice from Bobrovsky is my second best option tonight, Brian Elliott ($7,300). I am going with my man @MattyMcMatt17 and backing Elliott tonight. Elliot has won back to back starts, stopping 74 shots and allowing only 5 goals while averaging 7.9 DKFP per game.
Two other viable options I like are Garrett Sparks ($7,300) on the road against the Islanders, and whoever ends up starting for the Oilers in Ottawa tonight.
NHL DFS Top Forwards:
Top Tier:
Aleksander Barkov ($7,200) – Barkov has a 6 game point streak currently during which he has 4 multi point games. During his 6 game point streak Barkov has 7 goals and 6 assists. I love the Panthers and their 3rd ranked power play as a stack tonight.
John Tavares ($6,900) – John Tavares heads back to where it all began tonight, Long Island. He will most undoubtedly encounter an angered and betrayed (as some Islander fans put it) fan base who won’t be shy in letting him know it. What’s the best way to quiet them? You show up and put on a great performance and win the game and I think that is exactly what Tavares will do tonight.
Sean Couturier ($6,700) – In 3 games against Columbus this season Couturier has 2 goals and an assist with a 3.8 DKFP per game average. Currently Couturier has points in 6 of his last 7 totaling 2 goals and 9 assists. Philadelphia’s second line has been one constant for this team and I like them as a stack tonight if you aren’t playing Bob
Mid Tier:
Jonathan Marchessault ($5,700) – Florida has allowed 7 goals in their last 2 games meanwhile Vegas has scored 7 in their last 2. Marchessault has 3 goals and 4 assists in his last 10 while averaging 3.3 DKFP per game.
Alex Galchenyuk ($5,400) – Galchenyuk and the Coyotes have been heating up to the tune of 4 straight wins during which they’ve scored 14 goals. In his last 10 games Galchenyuk has 5 goals and 4 assists and against Vancouver this season he has 1 goal and 3 assists for a 4 DKFP per game average. Arizona’s top PP unit is towards the top of the list of my favorite stacks tonight
Marcus Johansson ($4,800) – Johansson had an assist in his first game as a Bruin on Tuesday while playing on the second line with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci. Before he left New Jersey Johansson had 2 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 games there.
Value Tier:
Dustin Brown ($4,200) – Brown does have a goal against Dallas in their one game against them and he does have 2 goals in his last 3 games as well as averaging 3 DKFP per game.
Oliver Bjorkstrand ($3,500) – Bjorkstrand picked up a goal against the Penguins Tuesday night, his second in 3 games. Torts has changed up the lines a bit putting the first like back together and Bjorkstrand is playing with the two Ottawa cast offs, Matt Duchene and Ryan Dzingel.
John Archibald ($3,200) – Archibald is playing with Derek Stepan and Lawson Crouse on the Yote’s 2nd line. In his last 4 games Archibald has a point in each game totaling 2 goals and 2 assists and averaging just over 3 DKFP per game.
NHL DFS Top Defensemen:
Top Pay Up Dman:
John Klingberg ($5300) – Klingberg has 1 goal and 2 assists in 3 games against the Kings this season and has an average of 5.8 DKFP per game this season. During his last 5 games Klingberg has 3 assists and an average of 2.7 DKFP per game.

To Pay Down Dman:
Oliver Ekman-Larsson ($4,200) – OEL is a borderline pay down dman at this price, but I just wanted to make sure I wrote him up tonight. Ekman-Larsson has 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 3 games. Ekman-Larsson is part of that top PP unit I mentioned in my part on Galchenyuk.
