2. Enter #DIY as the Dusty Classic comes together

Ciampa is quick to point out that this whole story is about them. That Gargano has always been better with Ciampa. Reminding him of their victories on both Raw and SmackDown last week against the current Raw Tag Team Champions, The Revival, and former multi-time tag team champions, The Bar.

Ciampa brings up the return of the Dusty Classic. That’s where the team known as #DIY got its start and also where the winners get a shot of the NXT Tag Team titles at NXT TakeOver: New York. He tells Gargano that this could be their moment and that by the end of TakeOver they could both be standing side by side as champions again.

The crowd was all for this, as a massive “DIY” chant breaks out. Gargano was hesitant at first as Ciampa reached out his arm for a handshake and Johnny accepted. #DIY is back.

Later on, Gargano and Ciampa are seen outside of the building at Full Sail where Gargano is confronted by his wife and fellow wrestler Candice LeRae, who is none-too-pleased with her husband’s decision to reform this tag team after everything Ciampa has put him through. Gargano tells LeRae to trust him. Unfortunately for him, she doesn’t seem to be too trusting of this as she huffs and walks away, leaving Gargano alone with his thoughts.

Over the course of the show, the rest of the Dusty Classic took shape as Ricochet and Aleister Black, after successful victories on this week’s editions of Raw and SmackDown join the tournament hoping to take on the Undisputed Era. Rounding out the tournament are former NXT Tag Team Champions Moustache Mountain, and Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch.
