It’s almost time for matchweek 29 in the Premier League and things are heating up at both ends of the table. There are plenty of exciting fixtures to look forward to, including the north London derby between Tottenham and Arsenal and the Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool.
Brendan Rodgers takes charge of his first Leicester, game while Manchester City look to keep the pressure on Liverpool as they travel to Bournemouth. At the bottom end of the table Huddersfield look to keep their extremely slim survival hopes alive as they face Brighton. Here are five bold predictions for all the action.
5. Ozil scores to help Arsenal win north London derby
The first game of the weekend is set to be a cracking match as Tottenham host Arsenal in the north London derby. The Gunners are pulling ever closer to Spurs in the table and a win in this match could take them to within a point of their fierce rivals.
Arsenal had a fantastic win in midweek as they trounced Bournemouth 5-1 while Tottenham had a disappointing defeat away at Chelsea. Those results have made this match even more significant than it normally is, as Arsenal could realistically be looking at a third-place finish now.
Tottenham have once again fallen as a potential title challenger and now the best they can hope for is a top four finish and good run in the Champions League. A win over Arsenal would get Mauricio Pochettino’s side back on track after two poor results away from home.
There’s already been two north London derbies this season with Arsenal winning a thriller at the Emirates in the league and Spurs claiming a victory in the League Cup. Both these sides can be unpredictable and that makes this match quite difficult to call.
One man who could make a difference for Arsenal is Mesut Ozil. The German playmaker hasn’t featured regularly under Unai Emery but he came into the squad in midweek and showed what he can do.
Ozil can definitely change a game and it’s quite surprising that Emery hasn’t played him as much. This weekend, the German will find the net for Arsenal as the Gunners win this one 2-1 with Harry Kane and co. misfiring in front of goal.
