Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Friday night March 1st! March begins the last full month of regular season NHL play, which kind of makes me sad, but that also means the playoffs begin next month and there is nothing better than play off hockey! You will notice a slight change to the format of my article as I am trying to streamline it, and make it easier for you to read by separating goalies, forwards, and defensemen onto their own pages, and then my last page will be line stacks and a sample of my core for tonight’s games ( I cannot give sample lineups per DraftKings policies)

Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:

7PM:

Pittsburgh @ Buffalo

Projected Goal Total: 6.5

Philadelphia @ New Jersey

Projected Goal Total: 6.5

Washington @ NY Islanders

Projected Goal Total: 6

Montreal @ NY Rangers

Projected Goal Total: 6

7:30PM:

St. Louis @ Carolina

Projected Goal Total: 5.5

8PM:

Nashville @ Winnipeg

Projected Goal Total: 6

10PM:

Vegas @ Anaheim

Projected Goal Total: 5.5

10:30PM:

Colorado @ San Jose

Projected Goal Total: 6.5

Looking at tonight’s schedule I will look to focus on the games with the higher projected goal totals, especially the Pittsburgh and Buffalo which could be the highest scoring game of the night, as well as Washington and the Islander, and Montreal and the Rangers. I am not sure I agree with the projected goal total for San Jose and Colorado, I feel like Martin Jones will be a good play against Colorado at home and that this game could be lower scoring in the ball of a 3-1 or 3-2.

NHL DFS Goalies:

My top goalie tonight is the man pictured above, Marc-Andre Fleury ($8,100) . Fluery and Vegas take on one of the worst teams in the league in Anaheim who have lost 4 straight games and has only scored 5 goals in that span. In 3 starts against the Ducks this season Fleury is 3-0 with a 1.00 GAA and a .959 SV% while stopping 71 of 74 shots against.

My next pick in net is Cam Talbot ($7,800) in his first start for the Flyers on the road in New Jersey. Talbot was traded away from Edmonton after a dismal season their and will get a second chance on the season with Philly the rest of the season. While he won’t see many starts after this, Talbot will look to take advantage of every start he gets.

My last option tonight is Martin Jones ($8,300) at home against the Av’s. Jones has had a rough few games allowing 14 goals in his last 4 starts and only winning one of those starts ( a shutout of the Penguins). Hopefully with a couple of days rest Jones will get his head clear and start playing like he had prior to this little hiccup. Jones does have an 8-3-1 record in 12 starts against Colorado and has won his last 2 starts against them.

Other options that you can consider include Carey Price ($7,600) @ NYR, and Matt Murray ($8,000) @ Buffalo. I would really consider both of these options as GPP plays in my opinion. These two games are projected to be high scoring, but on the off-chance they aren’t, these goalies could get you an advantage at probable low ownership.

NHL DFS Forwards:

Top Tier:

Sidney Crosby ($7,600) – Crosby has 4 goals and 12 assists in his last 10 while averaging 5.3 DKFP per game. Pittsburgh has struggled losing 5 of their last 10 and are clingy to the last wild card spot, but if they want to make the playoffs this season they will need Crosby to continue playing like this and inspiring the rest of the team as well.

Mark Stone ($6,800) – Stone made his Vegas debut on Tuesday night but was held off the score sheet but collect 4 shots on goal for 4 DKFP. In 2 games against Anaheim this season (all with Ottawa), Stone has 1 goal and 2 assists while averaging 5.5 DKFP per game.

Mika Zibanejad ($6,700) – Zibanejad has had a career year already surpassing his career high in assists (36) and points (63) and has tied his career high in goals (27). In 2 games with Montreal this season Zibanejad has 1 goal and 3 assists as well as an average of 7 DKFP per game. After the trade of Mats Zuccarello to Dallas Jimmy Vesey was added to the top line alongside Zibanejad and Chris Kreider

Mid Tier:

Patrick Laine ($6,100) – Laine is enduring his worst season in his short NHL season with only 42 points in 63 games so far this season, but it seems like Laine might be starting to turn it on. In his last 3 games, Laine has 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 games and is now playing on the Jets top line with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler, which makes them one of the top stacks on the night.

Teuvo Teravainen ($5,600) – Turbo has 1 goal and 6 assists in his last 3 games as well as 6 goals and 8 assists in his last 10. Teravainen, along with the rest of Carolina, has really turned it on as of late as they make a late playoff push.

Oskar Lindblom ($4,500) – Lindblom has been playing with the Flyers second line for a while now and they have been the most productive line for them. In his last 10, Lindblom has 5 goals and 2 assists as well as 35 shots on goal. Lindblom along with Sean Couturier and Jakub Voracek make up another of my top stacks tonight.

Value Tier:

Zach Aston-Reese ($3,900) – ZAR comes into tonight with 1 goal and 4 assists in his last 5 games while averaging 4 DKFP per game. Aston-Reese has been playing on the Pens second line with Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel which makes him my favorite value play on the night even though he doesn’t see PP time.

Andre Burakowsky ($3,100) – Burakowsky has a goal and 3 assists in his last 5 games for the Caps. Unfortunately he doesn’t see PP time, but he makes for a good one-off play if you plan on stacking an expensive line like the Penguins top PP unit or Colorado’s top unit as well.

NHL DFS Defensemen:

Top Pay Up Dmen:

Alex Pietrangelo ($5,600) – St. Louis’ captain has had a down year, but like his team, has been playing better in the last month or so. Pietrangelo has points in back to back games for the first time since 2/10 and 2/12.

Jeff Petry ($5,200) – Petry  has 2 assists in 2 games against the Rangers this season and also has 1 goal and 2 assists in his last 3 games alone with 7 shots on goal. Petry plays on the Canadiens top PP unit which is what makes him a good top option.

Other options: Brent Burns ($7,000) , Ryan Ellie ($4,900)

Top Pay Down Dmen:

Marcus Pettersson ($3,100) – Pittsburgh’s defense core is completely depleted now with Maata, Letang, and Dumoulin all injured. With all these injuries someone has to pick up the slack and in the last 2 games Pettersson’s minutes have jumped from around 15 per game to over 22 minutes per game. Pettersson is also on the second PP unit for the Pens.

Josh Manson ($2,800): Manson has only 1 assist in his last 3 games but is averaging 3 DKFP per game thanks to his shot blocking ability as well as his eagerness to shoot. In the same span of games Manson has 7 blocked shots and 5 shots on goal in that span.

Other options: Brady Skjei ($3,500), Jordie Benn ($3,200)

NEW YORK, NY – MAY 13: Alex Ovechkin #8 of the Washington Capitals celebrates wiith teammate John Carlson #74 and Nicklas Backstrom #19 after scoring a goal in the first peroid against the New York Rangers in Game Seven of the Eastern Conference Semifinals during the 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Madison Square Garden on May 13, 2015 in New York City. NHL DFS Line Stacks:

Washington:

My top over stack is the Capitals first PP unit with Alex Ovechkin ($7,800).

 1st Power Play Unit:
EVGENY KUZNETSOV
NICKLAS BACKSTROM
T.J. OSHIE
ALEX OVECHKIN
JOHN CARLSON

More from FanSided

St. Louis:

Next on my list of top stacks I am looking the St. Louis Blues top line as well as top PP unit. With Brayden Schenn out hurt, Jaden Schwartz has stepped into his spot on the 1st line and top PP unit beautifully.

1st Power Play Unit:

JADEN SCHWARTZ
RYAN O’REILLY
ROBERT THOMAS
VLADIMIR TARASENKO
ALEX PIETRANGELO

Colorado:

Colorado has had one of the top 1st lines all season, but they recently changed their lines up a little to try to add some secondary scoring movie Gabriel Landeskog to the teams second line.

Top Line:

ALEXANDER KERFOOT
NATHAN MACKINNON
MIKKO RANTANEN

Other Lines I am interested in:

San Jose 1

Vegas 1

Pittsburgh PP 1

Buffalo 1 and Buffalo 2 (Value)

Montreal 2

Winnipeg 2

NHL DFS Core plays:

My core plays will most likely start with Marc-Andre Fleury in net, and then from there I will figure out base off goal projections which team I want to use most. Right now I am Focused on use Patrick Laine and the Rangers top line of Zibanejad and Vesey, and capping it off with Alex Pietrangelo, and depending on salary I will use 1-2 Blues with Pietrangelo (Robert Thomas and Ryan O’Reilly for this example) will leave you with two forward spots (wing and utility) and 1 defenseman with $5,500 left per play in salary.

As always make sure to checkout Dailyfaceoff.com in the early afternoon to see what, if any, line changes we made during morning skate
