Only three points separate Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund in the race for the Bundesliga table. On Saturday, third-place Borussia Monchengladbach host Bayern at Borussia Park.

Monchengladbach were beaten 3-0 by Wolfsburg last weekend and have picked up only one point over their last three games. The Foals could fall out of the top four if they do not improve their level of play. Gladbach are only six points ahead of Eintracht Frankfurt and have games remaining against Dortmund and RB Leipzig. Dieter Hecking’s team have allowed 25 goals this season, the second fewest in the Bundesliga. However, seven of the 25 have been scored against Gladbach in the last three games. Up front, the Foals depend heavily on Alassane Plea and Thorgan Hazard, who have combined to score 19 of the club’s 42 goals.

Bayern did not play one of their better games but they did enough to beat Hertha Berlin 1-0 last weekend. Since Dec. 1, Bayern have won 10 of 11 games to move within three points of Dortmund as they chase their seventh straight title. Bayern’s recent form has stopped the calls for manager Niko Kovac to be fired. However, the win against Hertha was costly as Kingsley Coman came on as a sub and was again injured. The French winger is expected to miss at least two weeks because of the injury. The injury is a major blow to Bayern as Coman had been playing very well for Bayern. Serge Gnabry and Franck Ribery will start against Gladbach but Bayern will be short on depth, with only Thomas Muller available. The wingers will look to play the ball into Robert Lewandowski, who leads the club with 13 goals this season.
