Lazio face Roma at Stadio Olimpico on Saturday, March 2. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The Rome Derby is one of the fiercest rivalries in Europe. The fans of Lazio and Roma absolutely detest each other. On Saturday, Lazio host Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. Roma are fifth in Serie A, one point behind AC Milan for the final Champions League spot and three points behind Inter Milan. Lazio are sixth in the table, six points behind Roma but have one game in hand.
Lazio and Milan played a scoreless draw on Tuesday in the Coppa Italia. Simone Inzaghi’s team has struggled since the winter break ended, losing three of five Serie A, and were eliminated by Sevilla in the Europa League. The Eagles are 10th in Serie A with 33 goals. Outside of Ciro Immobile, who has scored 11 goals, Lazio have no dependable goalscoring options.
Roma were terrible during the first half of the season. Eusebio Di Francesco looked like he was another loss away from being fired and it did not look like Roma would qualify for Europe. Roma’s season then completely turned around, going unbeaten over their last eight games. After picking up 20 of 24 points, qualifying for Europe is likely and Roma could finish in the top four. Edin Dzeko scored twice in Roma’s 3-2 win against Frosinone. Dzeko is second on the club with seven goals this season, one behind Stephan El Shaarawy. The duo will be the focal point of the attack on Saturday.
