In 2018, the Arizona Cardinals became the first NFL team since the 1977 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (in just their second season of existence) to finish dead last in the league in total offense, rushing yards and passing yards per game. The club scored an NFL-low 225 points and the offensive unit produced only 24 touchdowns. The Cards’ season began with veteran Sam Bradford under center and ended with rookie Josh Rosen as the starter for the final 13 contests. All told, this squad reached the 20-point mark just four times all season.

The blame can be spread throughout the unit. And after the seventh game of the year, a 45-10 home prime time loss to the Denver Broncos, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was let go. Now enter new head coach Kliff Kingsbury, who hopes to restore a little life into the team’s attack.

Along with better play at the skill positions, Arizona could use a little help in the trenches. Last offseason, guard Justin Pugh was among the players brought in to help this group. When it was all said and done, the Cardinals averaged 83.9 yards per game on the ground and allowed 52 sacks. So could one-time New England Patriots’ tackle Cameron Fleming, who spent 2018 with the Cowboys, make an immediate impact up front? Keep in mind he played in only three games this past season. But he has the ability to play both sides and could be a valuable swingman for a Cardinals’ team that needs to improve up front.
