If you’re here, you want to find out how long Captain Marvel will be. You’re in the right place.

The release of the last Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Ant-Man and the Wasp, already feels like an age ago. Fortunately, 2019 is set to be a bonanza year for the franchise, with Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home set to shake things up for everyone’s favorite heroes.

Captain Marvel hits screens on March 8 and is set to be the first major blockbuster of the year, with Disney and Marvel Studios hoping they can replicate the huge success of Black Panther, which launched just over a year ago.

So how long is it going to be?

The official runtime for the movie is 123 minutes and 31 seconds, as certified by the British Board of Film Classification.

This puts it squarely in the same territory as other MCU releases. Both Captain America: The First Avenger and Iron Man 3 have roughly the same runtime, as does the movie that launched the MCU, 2008’s Iron Man. That many of these movies have such similar runtimes supports the argument that Marvel Studios prescribes a precise formula to their directors that they deviate from at their peril, but when the results have been this successful who’d want to mix things up?

That said, the 800-pound gorilla in this year’s line-up is Avengers: Endgame, with Joe Russo having explained that there’s a “high probability” that the film could be pushing a three hour runtime.

Sadly, Captain Marvel has one more thing in common with Black Panther aside from a similar release date and run-time: it’s also been subject to a vitriolic online hate campaign, fueled by anger that Brie Larson is being unapologetically feminist in promotional interviews. But given that the film is currently tracking for a monster opening, the efforts of those keyboard warriors will likely have been in vain.
