After a bizarre loss in Bloomington on Saturday, Michigan State will look to get back on track as they head home to take on a Nebraska team in the midst of a serious slump.
If we learned one thing on Saturday, it was that college basketball can get very weird. Top teams fell to more desperate opponents throughout the day, with one of the more baffling upsets coming in the Big Ten.
Michigan State entered their matchup with Indiana winners of five in a row, including a statement victory at Michigan, and had five days off to prepare for the game. The Hoosiers had a win over Wisconsin earlier in the week but appeared to be completely off the tournament bubble after dropping 12 of their last 13 games.
Naturally, the Hoosiers rallied from six down with 4:13 to go to stun the Spartans and complete a season sweep of Tom Izzo’s team. Cassius Winston did all he could to carry the Spartans, scoring 20 points and dropping 11 dimes, but when Indiana tried to take him out of the game no one else stepped up for Michigan State.
The Spartans return home to face another slumping team in Nebraska, which has dropped 10 of its last 12 games, including three in a row. The Cornhuskers got blown out in Ann Arbor last Thursday, losing 82-53 to Michigan, and things won’t be any easier against an angry Spartans’ squad.

This is the second meeting of the season between Michigan State and Nebraska. The Spartans picked up a 70-64 win over the Cornhuskers in Lincoln back on Jan. 17, and that game was the beginning of Nebraska’s disastrous free fall.
