Daily Fantasy Golf: PGA FantasyDraft Targets – The 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational
JuanBond back again with something new from FantasyCPR, and this time we will cover Daily Fantasy Golf for the contests available from our friends at Fantasy Draft!
Since I decided to morph the old DRAFT Daily Fantasy Golf article into a more universal power rankings piece, in addition to the standard FanDuel picks I do weekly, I will now provide for you the golfers I am targeting for contests on Fantasy Draft as well.
The infamous Picks and Pivots NBA and MLB articles here from site expert Brian Tulloch and FantasyCPR center around Fantasy Draft, and they really do have a unique platform, and offer a different DFS experience. If you still are not a part of the fun on Fantasy Draft, sign up here.
Now that you are signed up, our friends at Fantasy Draft have once again decided to kindly host another freeroll for all of our FantasyCPR readers! They have been kind enough to do regular NBA freerolls multiple times a week for Picks and Pivots, and they have extended that offer to PGA as well! Therefore, I present to you, the Picks and “Divots” freeroll from Fantasy Draft and FantasyCPR!
If you are new to Fantasy Draft be sure to check out the unique roster construction. Instead of picking six golfers as you do on most DFS sites, you pick seven, and your lowest golfers score is dropped.
If you are looking for course history information and just some general information about this event, be sure to check out my PGA Power Rankings for this week, released Monday night. Those rankings, along with some picks for FanDuel, can only be found right here at FantasyCPR on our Fantasy Golf page.
Daily Fantasy Golf: PGA Fantasy Draft Top Plays – The 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational
Justin Rose – $17,200
Do I really want to spend $1000 more here for McIlroy this week? On Fantasy Draft, for me, the answer is no. Yes the value is aplenty this week, but anyone over $18K basically has to win to hit value, and paying up for Justin Thomas and others over the last few weeks just has not been the winning recipe.
Instead, when you look at a site like FanDuel, the difference between Rory is Rose is only $100, which makes them virtually the same price. Here, the $1000 in salary can make a huge difference when it comes to say a $15K priced golfer versus a $16K one. Make sense? Long story short, I am fading McIlroy here, because I really feel that Rose, Jason Day, and my next target have just as good of a chance as any at winning, since we know McIlroy is not always keen at pulling off the victories.
Bryson DeChambeau – $16,400
The spotlight will be on this featured group on Thursday, as DeChambeau has been paired with Brooks Koepka. If you didn’t hear, last time the two played together, Koepka commented on the slow play of Bryson, so it will be interesting to see if the two can play nice together. This is golf though, so I am sure it will be a non-issue. Just fun to talk about if nothing else.
I don’t think it will change the way DeChambeau plays this week, and I would like to note that this price is a steal. I know he struggled in Mexico, but in his young career, it should be noted that nobody seems to bounce back quicker and with more authority.
If we go back to the PGA Championship, we will find the last time Bryson missed a cut, and his worst finish by far since the WGC-Mexico. What is interesting to note is that after this MC, DeChambeau went on to win back-to-back events at the Northern Trust Open and the Dell Technologies Championship. He has won two additional times since, with the most recent coming at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic on the European Tour in January. With the poor outing in his last event, expect a very focused DeChambeau this week.
***Also Consider: Rory McIlroy $18,200 – Jason Day $16,800***

Lucas Glover – $14,300
It will be very tough to argue this one, as Glover is playing some seriously solid golf as of late. Priced right at average seems like great value for a guy coming off back-to-back top 10’s after his T-4 at the Honda Classic last week.

Glover’s best finish here at Bay Hill was a T-7 two years ago, and the fact that he has had a good finish here, and is playing light out over the last few months makes him a solid play once again. In his last eight tournaments, Glover has missed just one cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, the other seven tournaments resulted in finishes no worse than T-17. Glover will fit nicely into balanced lineups this week if you decide to go that route.
Byeong-Hun An – $13,500
An has just been okay as of late, but is again an incredible talent that is a bit under priced at $13,500. He is coming off of a decent T-36 at the Honda Classic, and prior to his missed cut in Abu Dhabi, he notched back-to-back top 20’s at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
An also teed it up at the WGC-Mexico two weeks ago, and was less than stellar with his T-45 finish in the small field. He loves playing here in Florida though, and has made the cut three straight years here at Bay Hill, with his best being a T-14 last year.
***Also Consider: Ian Poulter $14,600 – Rafa Cabrera-Bello $14,000***

Brian Gay – $11,800
The first thing I do when I open a Fantasy Draft PGA contest, is start at $13,000, scroll down, and find my guys who I feel like are going to make the cut. Usually, this is painful as there is always a case to be made against these guys priced down here, which is precisely why they are priced down here, and why DFS works. But this week, things look very different. Now I have been wrong before, usually just once a week but sometimes three or four, but my eyes lit up when I saw three guys below $12K that all look very much in play.
Brian Gay is my favorite of the group. He is one of the best putters on tour, so he should be able to fair well here on this beautiful Bermuda grass. He is coming off of a T-20 finish last week at the Honda Classic, and his best finish thus far of 2019 was at Pebble Beach, where he T-7. Gay tied for 22nd here at Bay Hill last year.
