NHL DFS Man Advantage Wednesday March 6th
By Matt Vecchio
Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday night March 6th! Tonight it’s another small slate after a big slate with only 4 games on the schedule tonight. It’s another small slate with some big time offensive talent on the slate. Generally we try to focus on the home teams more when building because of the last change advantage, but tonight it seems like a night where the road teams are going to be the best play in NHL DFS.
Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:
Washington @ Philadelphia
Projected Goal Total: 6.5
Toronto @ Vancouver
Projected Goal Total: 6.5
St. Louis @ Anaheim
Projected Goal Total: 5.5
Calgary @ Vegas
Projected Goal Total: 6
NHL DFS Goalies:
Tonight is a strange night in goaltending with all the top options coming as road teams. My first choice is Frederick Andersen ($8,200) on the road in Vancouver. Andersen has been extremely consistent of late, in his last 10 games he has not allowed more than 3 goals in any one game and has a GAA of 2.53 to go with a SV% of .928
Next I am on Jordan Binnington ($8,100) out in Anaheim against a Duck team who is on t he second night of a back to back. Binnington has lost 2 of his last 4 starts after winning the previous 6, but both of those losses were against the Stars. In toad games this season Binnington has a 1.45 GAA and a .940 SV.
Laslty, Braden Holtby in Philadelphia is also a pretty good play tonight. Holtby has won 5 straight only allowing 5 goals in those 3 wins.
NHL DFS Top Forwards:
John Tavares ($7,300) – With the exception of his return to the Island, Tavares has been playing exceptionally well in his last 10 games. Tavares has 4 goals and 6 assists in that span while averaging 4.3 DKFP. In one game against Vancouver this season JT has a goal and 4 DKFP.
Sean Couturier ($6,700) – Dating back to March 4th, 2017, Couturier has at least one point in every game against the Capitals (6 games). In that span Couturier has 2 goals and 7 assists, including 3 multi point games.
Jonathan Marchessault ($6,000) – Marchessault has assists in his last 3 games, totaling 4 assists and is averaging over 4 DKFP per game in that span. Along with William Karlsson and Reilly Smith on the top line for Vegas they make a good stack that may go under the radar with all the other top lines on the slate.
Travis Konecny ($5,100) – Riding a 4 game point streak Konecny comes in on fire as the Flyers host the Capitals tonight. During his 4 game streak Konecny has 3 goals and 2 assists as well as 17.5 DKFP.
Lars Eller ($4,000) – Eller has 4 assists in his last 3 games against Philadelphia including a 2 assist game against them this season. Not only does Eller center the Caps 3rd line with Brett Connolly and Carl Hagelin but he also plays on the teams second PP unit
Ryan Carpenter ($2,600) – With this being such a small slate, we have to dig deep to find some value to differentiate yourself from the field and Carpenter could be one of those guys. Carpenter has a goal and an assist in his last 2 games and 4 points total in his last 10 games, and as a 4th line player Carpenter is play minutes in the low teens of late.
NHL DFS Top Defensemen:
High Price option:
Mark Giordano ($6,300) – Giordano has a 4 game point streak currently with 1 goal and 3 assists and has 2 assists in 2 games against Vegas this season. Gio is the Flames best defenseman and sees minutes in the mid 20’s, sometimes even hitting 30 minutes. With a guy playing nearly half the game on a small slate like this he is definitely someone worth paying up for
Other high price options: Nate Schmidt ($5,500)
Mid Price Option:
Travis Sanheim ($4,200) – Sanheim has outplayed both Ghost and Ivan Provorov this season. With 4 goals and 2 assists during his current 5 game point streak and his low price Sanheim is one of the top play of night, both on defense and forward.
Other mid price options: Jake Muzzin ($4,000)
Low Price Option:
Ron Hainsey ($3,000) – For his price on such a small slate I think Hainsey will find his way into my lineup tonight. Hainsey plays on the top D pair with Morgan Rielly.
NHL DFS Line Stacks:
Tonight’s top stack for me going to be the Capitals top PP unit. These 5 guys are the best Washington has on their roster and are the first place I plan to look to build my lineup.

My top non Power Play line is the top line of Calgary tonight against Vegas. Now this could be a dangerous play if Fleury plays because he has back to back shutouts, but if for some reason they start Subban it makes this line a must play. ]

SEAN MONAHAN
ELIAS LINDHOLM
Other top line stacks:
Vegas 2
Philadelphia 2
Toronto 3 and PP 1
St. Louis 1
Vancouver PP 1
NHL DFS Core Plays:
I am looking at Washington and Philadelphia as the top scoring game on the night. Both Elliott and Holtby can have great nights, but can also stink up the joint, and I am hoping for them to stink it up tonight. My core plays from that game are Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie from the Caps, and Couturier and the suddenly hot James van Riemsdyk from Philly. On the point I am using Sanheim to round out the game stack and Hainsey, and in net I am locking in Binnington. That will leave you $4,950 to add a center and the utility position.
