DraftKings EuroLeague Basketball Picks March 8

We are back to a balanced four and four slate for the DraftKings EuroLeagues slates this week. Most of the stars are on the Friday slate, so that makes the lineups harder to build. Which stars are worth paying for?

More from DFS

The only players ruled out so far are Janis Strelnieks, Nikola Ivanovic, and Aleksa Ilic. They join Arturas Gudaitis, Jayson Granger, Anthony Gill, and Tornike Shengelia who are likely done for the year.

We do have a lot of questionable tags though, and some of them are really going to affect our lineups. The big one is Jordan Mickey. He did travel with the team to Spain, so he may be closer to probable that doubtful.

Tony Crocker, Daniel Hackett, Andrew Harrison, Andrea Cinciarini, Andrei Lopatin, Tadas Sedekerskis, Simon Fontecchio, and Yigitcan Saybir join the ranks of the questionable, but none of them could have the impact of Mickey.

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

For DraftKings EuroLeague, we can’t expect 5x value like in the NBA. Most winning lineups are around 180-200 DraftKings points, which is around 3.5 – 4x value.

DraftKings EuroLeague Guards:

Mike James lit up CSKA for 45.5 DraftKings points in the first meeting, so it’s hard to say that he isn’t worth the price. Alexey Shved returned like he had never even left. He racked up 47.75 DraftKings points against Milan, meaning Shved has been over 40 DraftKIngs points in every game he has played. You can’t go wrong with either of these options. Too bad Thursday’s slate had most of the value. I want to play both of them!

Norris Cole is far too inconsistent for me to shell out this kind of money for. The chances of him getting numbers to rival the top two aren’t good. I could get on board with dropping down to Nando de Colo if it improves your roster enough. Nando has been strong over the last four games. I don’t think I trust Sergio Rodriguez enough to pay five figures for though.

Luca Vildoza put up 26 DraftKings points in the first game against Khimki. Vildoza has been a consistent force. Since that first game against Khimki, he has only been under 20 DraftKings points once. Vildoza looks like the perfect sidekick for Shved or james.

I prefer the consistency of Vassilis Spanoulis over Marcelinho Huertas or Cory Higgins. They both probably have a little more upside, but Spanoulis is far less likely to hurt your lineup. However, if Daniel Hackett is out, I prefer Higgins out of this tier.

Edwin Jackson isn’t really priced as a value pick, but he is about the only person at $7,500 or less that can hit 20 and not end in single digits. Curtis Jerrells continues to put up good numbers even with Nedovic back. I’m not crazy about the matchup, but the price is right on Jerrells to take a shot.

Briante Weber has outperformed Nigel Williams-Goss with Strelnieks out, and is MUCH cheaper. They are still letting Weber play about half the game. He is my favorite value pick at guard. Keep an eye on the status of Andrew Harrison. If he does make his EuroLeague debut this week, I’ll take a chance on him if it means putting both James and Shved in my lineup.

DAYTON, OH – MARCH 24: Will Clyburn #21 of the Iowa State Cyclones handles the ball against the Ohio State Buckeyes in the second half during the third round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament at UD Arena on March 24, 2013 in Dayton, Ohio. (Photo by Joe Robbins/Getty Images) /

DraftKings EuroLeague Forwards:

Will Clyburn is a solid option at forward, but I’m not going to fall all over myself trying to get him in my lineup. Johannes Voigtmann has a much better matchup, is far more consistent, and has a better matchup. Regardless of the status of Jordan Mickey, Voigtmann is the forward I’m willing to pay up for.

More from FanSided

The possible exception is Malcolm Thomas. Thomas has averaged 35 DraftKings points per game over the last five rounds. I don’t like the matchup, but if Mickey is out, Khimki wont have anywhere else to go on the interior.

Adrien Moerman has only been under 20 DraftKings points once since the first meeting against Barcelona on December 27th. Of course, Moerman had a season low 12.25 DraftKings points against Barcelona the first time around, so I think I’ll pass here.

The price on Goga Bitadze is very tempting, but he has had two horrid outings in his past three games. Vincent Poirier against Khimki is a much better matchup, but he isn’t the most consistent guy around either. When it comes down to it, I would rather use the red hot Shavon Shields here. Shields has 63.75 DraftKings points over the last two games. He has overshadowed Poirier lately.

The matchup is good for Ante Tomic and Chris Singleton, but good luck figuring out which one is going to perform better. I would rather avoid this entirely and go with James Nunnally despite the worse matchup.

Georgios Printezis is probably worth paying for in cash games, but I don’t think that he really has enough upside to use for GPP’s. In GPP’s, I would rather chase the upside of Bryant Dunston or Kyle Hines.

Kevin Seraphin’s minutes have evaporated, so I would go after Zach LeDay instead. He broke out of his slump in a big way last round, and should see more minutes because of that. Darrun Hilliard is a pretty strong value pick too, but Baskonia is pretty strong up front. There isn’t a lot of upside here.

I know this isn’t a great place for Kaleb Tarczewski matchup wise, but he has played so well since his return that I like him for this price. I also like Tibor Pleiss and the numbers that he’s been putting up.

Barcelona splits up the minutes pretty good in the frontcourt. That gives us a lot of guys with low ceilings and high floors for value prices. My favorites are Seraphin and Kyle Kuric, but the latter is stealing a lot o minutes from the former.
