NCAA Basketball Bets To Win – Friday, March 8th
By John Fazio
Good day and greetings from your NCAA Basketball Bets to win host. Friday gives us 5 games where the number looks weak.
Thursday our NCAA Basketball Bets went 4-3; 4-2 in the article and 0-1 in an additional twitter play, pushing the overall record to 110-89-2.
For those seeing this for the first time, I will be giving NCAA basketball best bets for the upcoming days games having written this article the night before. The lines I quote are the live lines at the time of writing.
Lines are very important and are key to creating value. On average, 1 out of every 14 games moving at least 1 1/2 points from the opening number will land (the final score will be within the line move) so we want to make sure to get the proper number.
All times Eastern, here we go with our NCAA basketball bets to win:
Brown +4 versus Princeton, 4 pm
Brown and Princeton both have been up and down this season, frustrating their backers with inconsistency. However in this match-up, two factors should spell the difference.
First, Brown had a good win in early February over Princeton 78-70 as an underdog. Second, the power rating has Brown as the better team and that is important in games around a pick.
I think Brown has a good chance of scoring an outright upset victory, but we are on record taking the points. Princeton doesn’t perform well ATS against teams with a winning overall record and Brown is 18-10 straight up.
VMI +1 1/2 versus Western Carolina, 5 pm
This conference tournament game features VMI having won and covered against W Car twice this season, home and away, beating the number solidly both times. In addition, VMI has won and covered their last 3 games overall scoring a ton of points home and away.
W Car has played good basketball in 3 of their last 4 games, crushing the number, but sandwiched around a loss to VMI as a favorite. I am banking on VMI matching up favorably against W Car again.

Akron +2 1/2 versus Kent State, 6:30 pm
Akron, except for 1 very poor game a week ago, has played excellent ATS basketball covering their last 7 of 8 games. Kent has been average over their last 10 games.

Akron enters this contest having beaten Kent in February by 19 as a 3 point favorite. Now they go to Kent as a small dog but are not afraid of the road, having covered their last 3 in that venue. The power rating shows Akron to be the better team, and with their ATS cover rate plus their command of Kent, I think we can take the underdog here.
Eastern Michigan +9 versus Toledo, 7 pm
Both teams come into this game playing fairly well, with Toledo sporting an exceptional overall record. The power rating is just about what the game number shows, so we need to look at their head to head series.
For whatever reason Eastern matches up very well with Toledo having covered 4 in a row, with the last one a 7 point win as a 4 point dog. It looks like Eastern can give Toledo fits regardless of the venue, so let’s give them another try tonight.
Southern Illinois -2 1/2 versus Northern Iowa, 9:30 pm
SIU triumphed twice this season over UNI, both home and away, one win by 7 points and the other by 8 points. There is nothing to suggest anything different tonight.
SIU has won and covered the last 4 in their series and their last 3 games overall, so they are coming in on a best case scenario. Let’s look for more of the same tonight and lay the small favorite.
That’s it for today.
