Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Friday night March 8th! Tonight we are back down to a small 4 game schedule with a few teams on the second night of a back to back.

Tonight’s game of the night will most likely be Winnipeg traveling to Carolina to take on a “Bunch of Jerks”, the Hurricanes. This is definitely going to be a game I am excited to watch for NHL DFS, but the game in sunny FLA is a good one too with both Minnesota and the Panthers on the second nights of back to backs.

Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:

New Jersey @ Washington

Projected Goal Total: 6

Minnesota @ Florida

Projected Goal Total: 6.5

Winnipeg @ Carolina

Projected Goal Total: 6.5

Montreal @ Anaheim

Projected Goal Total: 5.5

NHL DFS Goalies:

Tonight there is pretty much one clear, and probably chalky, option in Braden Holtby ($8,400) at home against the Devils. There is a chance we Pheonix Copley ($7,900), but with the playoff push on I don’t see coach Reirden going with his backup in a game the Capitals can’t lose.

Petr Mrazek ($7,700) is my second favorite goalie tonight at home against Winnipeg. Even though the Jets have a high-powered offense, they do go missing from time to time. In their last 5 games Winnipeg has scored 15 goals, but were held to 2 goals or less 3 times in that span. Mrazek hasn’t lost in nearly a month (last loss was 2/10) and has won 4 straight starts, and 5 of 6.

My last option will be Carey Price ($8,100) against Anaheim. I would probably have Price as my number 1 goalie if this game were a week or so ago, but Anaheim has put up some goals, 9 goals in their last 3, but Price has been playing better of late. Price did beat the Ducks earlier this season and has won 3 of his last 4 starts.

NHL DFS Top Forwards:

Sebastian Aho ($7,400) – Aho might be the most unknown superstar in all of the NHL. He is one of the top players in the league but because of where he plays, some may not realize how good he is. Aho might be my favorite play, or he may be second to my next player, tonight. In his last 4 games Aho has 5 goals and an assist while leading the Canes top line (Nino Niederreiter and Justin Williams) for a playoff push.

Brendan Gallagher ($6,800)  Gallagher is having a great season for the Habs with his second straight 30 goal campaign (2nd of his career). Earlier this season Gallagher had 2 goals and an assist against the Ducks and would love to have a similar game against them tonight. Gallagher is also riding a 4 game goal streak and will look to make it 5 straight games in Anaheim.

Jonathan Huberdeau ($6,100) – Huberdeau notched 2 goals and an assist last night in Boston, snapping his 3 game goalless drought. Florida is one of the most Jekyll and Hyde teams in the league, so tonight they could be shut out by the Wild after putting up 3 goals last night. I am hoping for Dr. Jekyll tonight at home against Minnesota

Jakob Silfverberg ($4,900) – With a fresh new 5 year deal the Duck winger has seemed to be more focused on his game. In his last 3 games Silfverberg has 2 goals and 3 assists as well averaging 4.8 DKFP per game. Silfverberg along with Rickard Rakell and Sam Steel make up a pretty good value stack

Ryan Donato ($3,800) – Donato has 2 goals and 7 assists in the 8 games since he was traded from Boton to Minnesota. After starting on the 3rd line, Donato has earned his time on the first line with his exceptional play since getting to Minnesota.

NHL DFS Defensemen:

Top Tier:

Jared Spurgeon ($5,100) – This spot is pretty weak tonight, there are some big names, but they just haven’t been playing well. I am on Spurgeon tonight because of his play against the Panthers this season with 2 assists and 5 DKFP in one game against them.

Other top options: John Carlson ($6,200), Jacob Trouba ($4,800)

Value Tier:

Cam Fowler ($4,100) – Fowler has been playing well with points in 3 straight games for the Ducks with 1 goal and 2 assists and averaging 4 DKFP per game. Fowler also logs a ton of minutes for the Ducks with an average over 23 minutes per game this season.

Other value options: Brett Pesce ($3,600), Mike Reilly ($2,900)

NHL DFS Line Stacks:

Since Devan Dubnyk started last night, I am assuming Minnesota goes with Alex Stalock in net which has me liking the Florida Panthers top PP unit as my favorite stack for tonight. Florida has the 3rd ranked PP in the league, meanwhile Minnesota’s penalty kill ranks 16th in the league.

ALEKSANDER BARKOV
JONATHAN HUBERDEAU
KEITH YANDLE
MIKE HOFFMAN

With a home game against the Devils tonight, Washington is heavily in play for me tonight. Any combo of their top 3 lines are in play, but I want to focus on the top line, which of course is their best line.

Washington 1

ALEX OVECHKIN
EVGENY KUZNETSOV
TOM WILSON

Washington 2
JAKUB VRANA
NICKLAS BACKSTROM
T.J. OSHIE

Other Line Stacks:

Carolina 1

Montreal PP 2

Minnesota 3

NHL DFS Core Plays:

Tonight my core is going to be focused around Washington and the Minnesota/Florida game. I am going to start with Alex Ovechkin from Washington, and then I will take a mini stack from the Wild’s 3rd line of Joel Eriksson Ek and Jordan GreenwayFrom Florida I am putting Huberdeau in. I definitely want Aho in tonight with how he has been playing, and in net I think I am going to roll out Mrazek to save some cash for the bigger name skaters.
