After winning three games in a row, the Tennessee Volunteers can clinch at least a share of the SEC’s regular season title by topping Auburn in the regular season finale.

Things got a bit rocky (no pun intended) for Tennessee over the past couple of weeks, but the Volunteers have righted the ship nicely. After dropping two out of three to fall from the top of the polls, Tennessee has recorded three consecutive wins to get back on top of the SEC standings.

The latest win for Tennessee was a strong one as they topped a potential tournament team in Mississippi State, scoring a 71-54 win at home on Senior Night. Admiral Schofield led the way with 18 points for the Volunteers, who are now 27-3 on the season entering this game with Auburn.

A loss to LSU two weeks ago means that the Volunteers need some help to win the league outright, but all they can worry about is taking care of their own business. Today, that means heading down to Auburn and knocking off the Tigers to end the regular season on a high note.

Auburn was considered one of the front runners in the SEC entering the season, but they haven’t done a ton to stand out from the pack. The Tigers have pretty much beaten everyone they were supposed to and compiled a ton of wins in the process, but Bruce Pearl’s squad doesn’t have that top-notch victory to separate themselves in the eyes of the selection committee.

Auburn has another opportunity to get one with Tennessee coming to town on Senior Day. The atmosphere should be highly charged anyway, but the meeting could have some extra motivation for Pearl, who was fired by Tennessee back in 2011 after being hit with NCAA recruiting violations.
