The AAC’s two best teams will square off in the Queen City for the regular season title when Houston heads north for a matchup with Cincinnati.

The American Athletic Conference could send up to four teams to the NCAA Tournament. The two best teams in the American are Houston and Cincinnati, and they will face off today for the regular season crown.

The Cougars bounced back from a rare home loss on Thursday by beating SMU 90-79 on Senior Night. Junior Armoni Brooks came off the bench to lead Houston in scoring with 20 points, allowing the Cougars to clinch at least a share of the AAC crown.

Things didn’t go as well for Cincinnati, which fell at UCF 58-55 to fall a game back of Houston in the standings. The Knights got 22 points from B.J. Taylor in his final home game to build off their win over the Cougars, firmly putting UCF in position to secure an at-large bid.

The loss leaves the Bearcats needing a win over Houston to get at least a share of the AAC title, with Houston claiming the title outright with a victory. It will be Senior Day in Cincinnati, so the Bearcats will look to send off their seniors with one last home win and a bit of hardware to boot.
