Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Monday night March 11th! Tonight we get a pretty large slate for a Monday night with 7 games on the schedule. There is one clear-cut key game on the schedule when Tampa Bay heads to Toronto to take on the Maple Leafs.

These are two of the top teams in the league and it should be a great game and potential second round playoff matchup, but I don’t know if I really want to touch this game from a fantasy prospective. It may be better left to GPP’s since you don’t know if it’s going to be a shootout with 2 of the top offenses on display or a 1-0 game because you have two of the league’s top goaltenders playing.

Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:

Ottawa @ Philadelphia

Projected Goal Total: 7

Tampa Bay @ Toronto

Projected Goal Total:  6.5

Columbus @ NY Islanders

Projected Goal Total: 6

San Jose @ Minnesota

Projected Goal Total: 6

Arizona @ Chicago

Projected Goal Total: 6.5

Carolina @ Colorado

Projected Goal Total: 6

NY Rangers @ Edmonton

Projected Goal Total: 5.5

NHL DFS Goalies:

Like I wrote about in the open, the two best goalies on tonight’s slate play against each other in Frederik Andersen ($7,700 ) and Andrei Vasilevskiy ($8,000 ). I will most likely be fading both, but you can take the risk if you like to live dangerously.

My top goalie tonight is Brian Elliott ($7,300) at home against the NHL’s doormat team, the Senators. Ottawa has only won once since February 12th, losing 10 of their last 11 games. Elliott has been pretty good of late going 3-1-1 in his last 5 starts allowing just 13 goals in those 5 games. During this 5 game stretch Elliot has made 139 saves over this span averaging 27.8 per game, but if you take away the game against Washington where he got pulled, he’s averaging 31 saves per game.

My second pick in net is Mikko Koskinen ($7,600 ), as long as he is healthy, at home against a Ranger team that has lost 6 of 7 and has only scored 18 goals during this horrendous stretch for them, averaging just 2.57 GP/G.

Two other goalies I will consider tonight is Martin Jones ( $7,800) or Aaron Dell ($7,600) (who ever starts for San Jose) and Sergei Bobrovsky ($7,400 ) on the road against the Isles, Bobrovsky has a 2.60 GAA in his last 5 starts. The Islanders have not been scoring goals of late with 13 goals in their last 5, but if you take out their two games against Ottawa (9 goals scored) they only scored 4 goals.

NHL DFS Top Forwards:

Top Tier:

Connor McDavid ($7,700 ) – Edmonton was hot for a minute there winning 4 straight, but then Toronto came into town and ended that. Even in the loss on Saturday McDavid had 2 assists, extending his point streak to 8 straight games. During his streak McDavid has 2 goals and 12 assists and has 5 multi-point games (4 straight).

Sebastian Aho ($6,900) – Aho and the Hurricanes head into Colorado for a huge game with playoff implications for both teams. Coming into tonight Aho has points in 11 of his last 13 games totaling 6 goals and 9 assists. Carolina’s top line is a good stack with Aho and Nino Niederreiter and Justin Williams

Claude Giroux ($6,700) – Giroux has 2 goals and 3 assists in his last  3 games against Ottawa, and has points in 7 straight games overall. During his 7 game point streak Giroux has 3 goals and 12 assists, including 5 multi point games.

Mid Tier

Tomas Hertl ($6,200 ) – Hertl has been one of the many hot Sharks currently as they have taken over 1st place overall in the West. In his last 4 games, Hertl has 2 goals and 3 assists as well as 11 shots on goal. Hertl centers the Sharks second line with Gustav Nyquist and Joonas Donskoi and also plays on the second PP unit. I really like the Sharks PP unit tonight against the Wild.

Artemi Panarin($5,800)/Matt Duchene ($5,700) – Columbus is 5-4 since acquiring Duchene from Ottawa, and an above .500 record should be good, but it has Columbus out of the playoffs currently. Neither Panarin or Duchene have scored a goal in the Blue Jackets last 5 games, if Columbus has any shot at the playoff these two need to get going.

Vinnie Hinostroza ($4,800) – Hinostroza was trade from the Blackhawks to the Yotes this past offseason and proceeded to score 2 goals in his first game against them this season. Now playing with Brad Richardson and Michael Grabner on the Coyotes 3rd line Hinostroza would love to net a couple more against the Hawks and beat them on Monday night

Value Tier:

Jean-Gabriel Pageau ($4,200) – We all know Ottawa is bad, but they have been able to score some goals here and there and Pageau has been one of their better players. In his last 4 games Pageau has 2 goals and an assist and is averaging over 4 DKFP per game

Ryan Donato ($3,900) – Donato has gone cold, except for his 2 assists game against Tampa. He has not scored since his 5 point streak to start his tenure as a member of the Minnesota Wild but if they want to stay in the playoff hunt Donato will need to step up his game again.

Ryan Strome ($3,200) – Strome has been one Ranger who has actually played well recently. In his last 10 games Strome has 5 goals, 3 assists, 15 shots on goal, and is averaging 3.2 DKFP per game while playing over 17 minutes per game. If Koskinen is unable to play, the Rangers, especially Strome and the rest of the Rangers second line, Chris Kreider and  Jesper Fast

NHL DFS Top Defensemen:

Top Tier:

Tyson Barrie ($5,800) – Barrie is finally playing like the Av’s best defensemen after a lull mid-season where he just was non-existent. In his last 3 games Barrie has 1 goal, 2 assists, and is averaging 5.3 DKFP per game.

Other options: Travis Sanheim ($5,000)- Points in 6 of his last 7, Brent Burns ($6,800)

Value Tier:

Nick Leddy ($4,000) – Leddy has points in 3 straight games for the Islanders, totaling 1 goal and 3 assists while playing on the team’s top D pair with Scott Mayfield and also captains the team’s top PP unit.

Other options: Ron Hainsey ($3,100), Tim Heed ($2,900)

NHL DFS Line Stacks:

Chicago made a mistake in separating Toews and Kane, in my opinion, I mean I get it, you need to try to get more scoring depth, but you were making a playoff push and they were the reason why. Luckily they are still on the same PP unit and that is where I am looking to go tonight against Arizona.

More from FanSided

DYLAN STROME
JONATHAN TOEWS
PATRICK KANE
ERIK GUSTAFSSON
ALEX DEBRINCAT

Speaking of PP lines, the Flyers top unit is where you can look next, or first, depending on how you feel about them. I will probably have a combo of both these lines in my lineup builds tonight, but I may substitute Sanheim in and get more exposure to Philly with a better option for $100 less.

JAMES VAN RIEMSDYK
SEAN COUTURIER
JAKUB VORACEK
CLAUDE GIROUX
SHAYNE GOSTISBEHERE

Other stacking options:

Edmonton 1

Arizona PP 1

NY Rangers 1

Both Toronto and Tampa’s 1st PP units

Minnesota PP 2

Colorado PP 1

NHL DFS Core Plays:

My core starts with Brian Elliott in net tonight, and then to continue with my Flyers stack I want to use Giroux, van Riemsdyk and Sanheim. For my Chicago stack I am using Toews and Kane together to get exposure to the top two lines and the top PP unit. Lastly I am using Ryan Strome to save some cash. Leaving one D spot and the utility spot open with $4,150 left per player.
