College baseball rankings: FanSided Top 25 – Pac-12 dominates top 5
By Ethan Lee
We have a new No. 1 team in this week’s college baseball rankings, and the Pac-12 continues to dominate the competition this year.
So far, it’s pretty clear that the Southeastern Conference is the deepest college baseball conference from top to bottom. The SEC is full of ranked teams from the FanSided College Baseball Top 25 with nine total ranked this week. That said, the Pac-12 looks to challenge the SEC and take the College World Series title back out west yet again.
Right now, the Vanderbilt Commodores sit at the top of the FanSided College Baseball Top 25, but there are three Pac-12 teams right behind them. UCLA, Stanford, and Oregon State come in at two through four respectively, with Mississippi State rounding out the top five.
Here’s what the top 25 college baseball teams look like this week.

Teams on the rise
The No. 5 Mississippi State Bulldogs have made their way into the top five here, but they’re far from the only team making their way up the rankings.
The No. 10 Clemson Tigers jumped into the top 10 after sweeping the North Carolina Tar Heels this past weekend. The Auburn Tigers are slowly making their ascent up the rankings as well, moving up to 21 after being at 25 a couple of weeks ago.
New to these rankings are the No. 25 Oklahoma Sooners, who are continuing to prove themselves as a respectable team in the early part of this season. Similarly, the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, after taking a game from the Arkansas Razorbacks (but losing the series), has shown some potential and make their debut here at No. 23.
Teams sliding down
No. 15 LSU was swept by No. 13 Texas a couple of weekends ago, which was certainly more than enough to drop the Tigers from the top spot. LSU then followed that up by struggling to take a series from the California Golden Bears (7-6 on the season). The Tigers will get something of a shot at redemption by facing the Kentucky Wildcats this weekend.
But LSU isn’t alone in falling from the top five. The North Carolina Tar Heels are right there with the Tigers at No. 16 after getting swept by No. 10 Clemson and struggling to defeat Charleston Southern.
