College Basketball Betting Picks: Locks For Tuesday March 12th
With College Basketball’s March Madness tournament only 7 days a way, there is no better time to increase your College Basketball Betting Picks bankroll then conference championship week.
The CAA, Horizon League, NEC, Summit and West Coast League will have their champion crowned. Meanwhile, the Sun Belt, SWAC, ACC and the AEC will kick of their conference tournaments with plenty of teams in action in between on their march to an automatic bid to the big dance. Be sure to follow along at @AlexMcKinnonDFS for more conference championship and March Madness coverage of College Basketball Betting Picks.
Tuesday will feature 5 conference championships meaning we will have 5 new automatic bids for the NCAA tournament to join Murray State, Gardner-Webb, Bradley, Liberty, Wofford and Iona. What a crew that is, by the way. 18 games spanning from 12pm EST to 9pm EST, there are plenty of spots to take advantage. The only ranked participant will be #1 Gonzaga taking on Saint Mary’s for the WCC title.
My favorite play for Tuesday, March 12th is in the Horizon League Championship. With what is VERY likely the only bid out of the Horizon League for the big dance, the #1 seeded Wright State Raiders face off with the #2 seeded Northern Kentucky Norse in what is currently a Pick ‘Em.
Northern Kentucky vs. Wright State, 7PM EST
The Pick: Wright State PK
Wright State earned their spot in the title game with a convincing win over Wisconsin-Green Bay yesterday with a 66-54 victory. On the other side, NKU needed an incredibly clutch three by Senior Drew McDonald

Wright State and NKU split their season series with a Northern Kentucky win on 1/11 (68-64) and a Raiders win on 2/15 (81-77). In their last three meetings, Wright state is 3-0 ATS. The Raiders are also 18-13 ATS on the season while NKU is 11-20. The Raiders are also 8-2 ATS in their last 10, while NKU holds the advantage at neutral sites, going 8-2 SU in their last 10.
Wright State is 10-0 when holding an opponent to a FG% of 42% or less and 11-12 when they shoot higher. With a NKU team who scores in bunches (79.2 ppg), Wright State will need to control the pace. Wright State will rely on their Seniors to carry them to the tournament including Billy Wampler and Loudon Love. Their Seniors (5) account for over 3/4th’s of their scoring this season.
Look for the super seniors to take control of this one and bring the Raiders into the depths of March…
Pittsburgh vs. Boston College, 7PM EST
The Pick: Under 134.5
As part of opening night for the ACC Tournament, the 14-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers take on the Boston College Eagles. Both teams were under .500 on the season but only have a combined total of 5 Seniors on their rosters.
These two young teams will face off in a game that really doesn’t matter in the long-run. With Virginia, Duke, UNC and a slew of very good teams from the 4-10 seeds, neither of these teams have a shot in hell of getting past the next round.
The Under has hit in 6 of the last 9 meetings between these two teams and 7 of the last 10 games for Boston College. Pittsburgh hasn’t score 70 or more points since February 9th and BC just put up a mere 47 points against NC State. The ACC tournament had an explosion of over in last year’s tournament but I think you can make this bet safely to kick off the first round.
Northeastern vs. Hofstra, 7PM EST
The Pick: Under 142.5
Another conference championship, Justin Wright-Foreman and the #1-seed Hofstra Pride will take on the #2 Northeastern Huskies for the CAA title game. The Pride, carried by Wright-Foreman and his 42 points squeaked by Delaware with an OT win in the semi-finals while the Huskies faced a similarly tough challenge against Charleston, winning 70-67.
In their last meeting on 2/2, Northeastern won 75-61 (136 points) and prior to that, Hofstra defeated the Huskies 75-72 (147 points) on 1/5.
The under has hit in 4 of the last 6 for Northeastern and more importantly, 5 of the last 5 when the Huskies have faced the Pride. But here is the best metric:
The under is historically profitable in conference tournament finals when the public is on the over (56% of the public as of now are on the over). With the parameters, the under is 168-106-8, good for 61%.
North Dakota State vs. Nebraska-Omaha, 9PM EST
The Pick: Nebraska-Omaha -3
One more conference tournament final for the board! In the Summit League finale, the Bison of 4-seeded North Dakota State face off with the #2 Omaha Mavericks. After ending the season on a 1-3 slide, the Bison were able to get past Oral Roberts and Western Illinois to earn their way to the finals while Omaha took down North Dakota and Fort Wayne, as the favorite (South Dakota State) went down to Western Illinois earlier in the tournament.
Omaha swept North Dakota State this season by a margin of 21 points and has been on a tear towards the end of the season. Omaha is 11-3 ATS in their last 14 as well as 6-3 ATS against North Dakota State in their last 9 match ups. The Bison are also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 but I am on the Mavericks tonight big time.
