College softball rankings: FanSided Top 25 – UCLA overtakes Florida State for top spot
By Ethan Lee
This week’s college softball rankings see a new No. 1 team with UCLA overtaking Florida State. Also, the SEC gets nine teams in the Top 25.
The Florida State Seminoles ended up taking the series from the now-No. 25 Arizona Wildcats, but that doesn’t mean they get to keep the No. 1 spot in the latest college softball rankings.
This week, the No. 1 ranking now belongs to the UCLA Bruins. Had Florida State swept the Wildcats, it’s unlikely FSU would have lost the No. 1 spot. But that didn’t happen, so the Bruins are the new top team in the country.
In addition to the change at the top, there are nine SEC teams that make up the Top 25 as the conference continues to impress.
Here’s how the FanSided College Softball Top 25 looks this week:

Teams on the rise
Keep an eye on the No. 19 Ole Miss Rebels. Ole Miss just broke their way into the FanSided Top 25 by taking a series from the No. 15 Arkansas Razorbacks. The Rebels won’t really be challenged again until later this month when they travel to face No. 21 South Carolina, so they might have a fairly notable record heading into that series against the Gamecocks.
In the upper half of the FanSided Top 25 College Softball rankings, make sure you’re paying attention to the No. 6 Tennessee Lady Vols. Tennessee went into Gainesville and came away with a dominant series win over their rival.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are playing phenomenal softball at the moment as well and the race for the Big 12 between them and the Oklahoma Sooners will be something that everyone should keep up with.
Teams sliding down
Speaking of Florida, the now No. 10 Gators dropped quite a bit after losing their series to the Lady Vols. Losing to Tennessee hurts Florida’s chances of claiming the SEC and will make the conference race interesting down the stretch.
