Le’Veon Bell contract could be $20 million per year with Jets
The New York Jets are burning through their cap space in free agency, and they could be set to put record-setting money in Le’Veon Bell’s pocket.
Le’Veon Bell remains the hottest name on the free-agent market. He might soon find a home — and tons of money — soon enough.
With the New York Jets in hot pursuit of the 27-year-old, multiple sources have told FanSided that Bell could receive between $17-20 million annually in a deal believed to be at least four years in length. As for the guarantees, the deal could be worth $60 million guaranteed. That number would break Todd Gurley’s record mark for a running back of $45 million, signed last offseason.
After sitting out all of last season when the Pittsburgh Steelers dropped the franchise tag on him for a second straight year, Bell is trying to cash in and recoup some of the lost funds. Should he land this kind of deal from New York, he would be doing that and then some.
Bell is easily the best running back on the market. In the last two seasons that he played, Bell combined for more than 2,500 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns, showcasing patience in the backfield and soft hands in the passing game.
If Bell ends up with the Jets, he would certainly become the focal point of the offense. New York has added some nice pieces including wide receiver Jamison Crowder and guard Kelechi Osemele, but Bell would obviously be the star in Adam Gase’s system.
