Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Tuesday night March 12th! Tonight we have an 8 game slate, which is sort of small for a Tuesday, but whenever you have arguably the best current rivalry in the NHL on the slate it’s always a good slate. We have Penguins vs Capitals tonight on NBCSN and that is the one game everyone is talking about for tonight, but it’s not the only game worth targeting on the slate tonight.

Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:

Dallas @ Buffalo

Projected Goal Total: 5.5

Boston @ Columbus

Projected Goal Total: 6

Washington @ Pittsburgh

San Jose @ Winnipeg

NHL DFS Goalies:

Tonight is an odd night when it comes to goalies as the three top ones on my list are all the same price. Tuukka Rask, Jordan Binnington, and Ben Bishop all come in at $7,800 and have exploitable matchups. Looking at GF/G Binnington gets the Arizona who ranks 28th in the league with just 2.63, and that decreases to 2.25 GF/G on the second of a back to back. As for Rask who also gets a team on the second night of a back to back, Columbus who averages 3.06 GF/G dips to a 2.83 on the second night. As for Bishop he is riding a 3 game win streak during which he has notched a pair of shutouts and gave up just one goal on 89 shots for a .989 save percentage. The Dallas netminder is undefeated in regulation against the Sabres, as he is 11-0-1 with a 1.48 GAA in 12 career matchups with Buffalo .

For a GPP target I like John Gibson ($7,000) at home against Nashville. Gibson has won 2 of his last 3 starts allowing 8 goals in the 3 games, but only 3 goals in his two wins. Nashville averages just 2.77 GF/G against Western Conference teams good for only 23rd in the league, but is 3rd in the league with 33.8 SOG per game.

NHL DFS Top Forwards:

Top Tier:

Alex Ovechkin ($7,700)/Sidney Crosby($7,600) – Two of the greatest players in NHL history, don’t try to argue, love to step up their game when they play against each other. This is my favorite stack of the night because of how they pile up points in games each other. In 48 career (regular season) games against the Capitals, Crosby has 22 goals and 46 assists for an average of 1.41 P/PG. As for Ovie he has 35 goals and 23 assists in 55 career games for a 1.05 P/PG average.

Sean Monahan ($6,900)/Johnny Gaudreau ($6,700) – These two, along with Elias Lindholmhave been extremely disappointing of late with next to no production. In the Flames last 5 games they have combined for 1 goal and 4 assists which goes hand in hand with the Flames losing 4 of those 5 games. They have a matchup with New Jersey tonight and they need to get back on track against a bad team like the Devils.

Brendan Gallagher ($6,800) – Gallagher has 3 goals in 3 games against Detroit this season along with 11 shots on goal and 5 DKFP per game average

Mid Tier:

David Krejci ($5,700) – It seems like all of a sudden I am writing up David Krejci nightly now. Krejci has a goal in each of the last for games, and 5 points total. While David Pastrnak is out Krejci has been playing on the first PP unit for Boston but I don’t recommend a stack for the Bruins PP since Columbus is 2nd in penalty minutes so they may not get too many opportunities tonight and I am not fond of his linemates so Krejci might just be a one-off play.

Clayton Keller ($4,900) – Keller was the Coyotes lone All Star this season and leads the team in assists (31) and points (44). In 2 games against the Blues this season Keller has 1 goal and 2 assists this season as well as averaging 5 DKFP per game.

Jared McCann ($4,600) – McCann is having the best stretch of his season right now for the Penguins. Over the Penguins last 5, McCann has 3 goals and 3 assists, including 2 against the Bruins on Sunday night and also has a goal against the Caps this season. McCann is back playing with Crosby and Jake Guentzel on the Pens top line.

Value Tier:

Lars Eller ($4,300) – Eller has goals in back to back games for the Capitals and is averaging 6 DKFP per game in those two games. Not only does Eller center Carl Hagelin and Brett Connollybut he also centers the teams second PP unit. Pittsburgh is middle of the pack in PK %, while the Caps PP ranks 10th in the league.

Thomas Vanek ($3,500) – Vanek, like Eller, has goals in back to back games as well and 5 sog and an avg of 4.5 DKFP per game.

Troy Terry ($3,000) – Terry is a really nice cheap option tonight at home against Nashville tonight. In his last 5 games Terry has 2 goals and 5 assists  and 18.5 total DKFP. Terry along with Adam Henrique and Nick Ritchie makes for a pretty decent, low ownership, stack tonight as well.

GLENDALE, ARIZONA – MARCH 07: (L-R) Johnny Gaudreau #13, Mark Giordano #5 and Sean Monahan #23 of the Calgary Flames during the third period of the NHL game against the Arizona Coyotes at Gila River Arena on March 07, 2019 in Glendale, Arizona. NHL DFS Top Defensemen:

Top Tier:

Mark Giordano ($6,300)  – Giordano is another guy from the Flames who needs to get going. Yes, they are still in the hunt for first in the West, but they will quickly fall out of it if Giordano and the rest of the top line for the Flames don’t get going tonight against a team like the Devils. Giordano only has 3 assists in his last 5 but does have a goal against the Devils this season.

Other options: Alex Pietrangelo ($5,800), Jakob Chychrun ($4,800)

Value Tier:

Victor Mete ($2,700) – Mete has 3 assists in his last 5 games and has been playing near or over 20 minutes per game during this span. Mete has been given more opportunity to play of late and at home against Detroit seems like a spot to use Mete as a punt play dman

Other options: Matt Niskanen ($3,800) , Rasmus Anderssen ($2,900)

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA – MARCH 06: Alex Pietrangelo #27 of the St. Louis Blues is congratulated at the bench after scoring a goal during the third period of a game against the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center on March 06, 2019 in Anaheim, California. (Photo by Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images)

NHL DFS Line Stacks:

With Vladimir Tarasenko out for an extended period of time the Blues were forced to switch up their top line with Jaden Schwartz jumping up to take Tarasenko’s place. Arizona has one of the top penalty kills in the entire league so I won’t be stacking the Blues PP unit, but their top line is definitely in play for me.

I already mentioned both Gallagher and Mete earlier but with the Canadiens playing the Red Wings and their 27th ranked PK Montreal is in a good spot to cash in on the PP tonight. Even the Canadiens have the worst PP in the league, I still like them tonight. I am also focusing on the teams 2nd PP unit, there is more value and I think more goal scoring on that unit.

JORDAN WEAL
BRENDAN GALLAGHER

NHL DFS Core Plays:

My core starts with the Crosby/Ovechkin stack I mentioned. I want to then add McCann to pair with Crosby and maybe Eller to get 4 players from this game and save some cash. In net I am right now on Binnington, but it could change but with my top three being the same price it’s not important. Lastly I want to put in Troy Terry to save some cash with the players listed it will leave you $5,000 per player for 2 defensemen and your utility spot.
