Welcome to NHL DFS Man Advantage for Wednesday night March 13th. Tonight we have a small 3 game slate, but we get to have both Edmonton and Toronto on this slate, two of the top offensive teams in the league right now. Since this is such a small slate I am going to go away from my normal format and instead breakdown each game individually for you. I will give you a little info about the game, one line I like from each team, if there any good one-off or mini stacks, and if I like either goalie from the game I will break them down as well. I hope you enjoy the different format tonight, but I will go back to normal format for Thursday nights 10 game late

Tonight’s NHL DFS Schedule:

Chicago @ Toronto

Projected Goal Total: 7

New Jersey @ Edmonton

Projected Goal Total: 6

NY Rangers @ Vancouver

Projected Goal Total: 5.5

SAN JOSE, CA – JANUARY 25: Auston Matthews #34 of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Patrick Kane #88 of the Chicago Blackhawks warm up during the 2019 SAP NHL All-Star Skills at SAP Center on January 25, 2019 in San Jose, California. (Photo by Bruce Bennett/Getty Images)

NHL DFS: Chicago @ Toronto

This game is the DFS game of the night with the highest projected goal total and even though Andersen is having a great season he can be beat, see what Tampa did Monday night. Chicago is a goal scoring machine with 4+ goals in 5 of their last ten and haven’t scored less than 2 goals in-game during that span.

As odd as it sounds, I do not like either of the Hawks top two lines as a stack, but instead I would prefer their third line:

ALEX DEBRINCAT ($6,600)
DYLAN STROME ($5,500)
BRENDAN PERLINI ($3,400)

Total Stack Price: $15,500

This line combined for 3 goals (Perlini HT) and 3 assists in Chicago’s 7-1 win on Monday night against Arizona. They showed chemistry and on a night were you are going to want to pay up for some of the top talent on the other side of this game, and in Edmonton, you will need to find some inexpensive players to supplement.

As for the Maple Leafs, I like their new 2nd line with William Nylander taking the place of the injured Kasperi Kapanen

ANDREAS JOHNSSON ($4,000)
AUSTON MATTHEWS($7,300)
WILLIAM NYLANDER($3,500)

Total Stack Price: $14,800

Combined in their last 10 games (not as a unit) they have 9 goals and 9 assists and they will actually cost you $700 less than the Blackhawks stack.

The one off guys in this game are pretty easy, Patrick Kane ($7,800), and Jonathan Toews ($6,700), and from Toronto John Tavares ($7,500), and Mitch Marner ($7,100)

As for defensemen the obvious choices are Morgan Rielly ($6,400) and Erik Gustafsson ($5,700). Both are their team’s top dman and both play on the first PP units with most of the guys listed above. Looking for a value, I really like Ron Hainsey ($3,500). Hainsey has not scored many points, but as for DKFP he has been getting 2-3 a lot of late which is all you can really ask for his price.

Lastly, goaltending, obviously I don’t want who ever gets the start for Chicago, but you could make a case for Frederik Andersen ($8,300) if he starts. If it’s Garrett Sparks ($8,100) who starts I would probably fade goaltending in this game completely.

NHL DFS: New Jersey @ Edmonton

This game should go to Edmonton and I will most likely be 100% fading New Jersey. If you want to try for multi-entry GPP’s a New Jersey stack would be one way to go that could be huge for you if this game ends up being high scoring and close.

Looking at New Jersey there isn’t much to like here, unfortunately. New Jersey comes in losers of 6 straight (not including Tuesday night) and have only scored 7 goals in those 6 games as well as being shutout 2 times.

BLAKE COLEMAN ($3,900)
TRAVIS ZAJAC ($4,100)
KYLE PALMIERI ($5,500)

Total Stack Price : $13,500

This is the only line the Devils have that is a full NHL line so they are the logical choice

As for Edmonton, their number 1 line is also the best option, but when the best player in the world is on the line you have to like that line as a stack.

LEON DRAISAITL ($7,400)
CONNOR MCDAVID ($7,800)
ZACK KASSIAN ($3,400)

Total Stack Price: $18,600

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins ($5,800) and maybe a little bit of Sam Gagner ($4,000) are the only one-off plays I would consider.

Darnell Nurse ($5,500) is my top dman in this game as well as Kris Russell ($4,500). Russell has 3 assists and 22 DKFP over his last 5 games. Damon Severson ($4,500) is a decent play on the point, and Connor Carrick ($2,900) is a good value.

Goaltending in this game is cut and dry, Mikko Koskinen ($8,100) is the top goalie on the night and will be in my lineup for sure tonight

NHL DFS: NY Rangers @ Vancouver

This game has the lowest total on the night and I will probably have very limited exposure to it. There is potential in this game for goals but there are no real clear-cut top lines who produce regularly right now.

With the moves the Rangers made at the trade deadline they got rid of some of their top scorers in Zuccarello and Hayes, and what’s left leaves a lot to be desired. I am going with the Rangers 2nd line tonight for a stack recommendation:

CHRIS KREIDER ($5,300)
RYAN STROME ($3,500)
JESPER FAST ($2,600)

Total Stack Price: $11,400

For Vancouver I am also only their second line. Whatever Line Elias Pettersson is on is usually where you want to look for your Canucks play.

JOSH LEIVO ($3,300)
ELIAS PETTERSSON ($5,900)
BROCK BOESER ($6,000)

Total Stack Price$15,200

Outside of the stack I mentioned for the Rangers there really isn’t anything worth looking at for them up front. If I had to play someone, I would probably run with Mika Zibanejad ($6,500) . On Defense you can look at Tony DeAngelo ($4,400) or Brady Skjei ($4,300).

Vancouver is kind of in a similar spot like the Rangers where there really aren’t any one off plays I am interested in. Nikolay Goldobin ($3,100) has scored against the Rangers this season. Alex Edler ($5,800) and Alex Biega ($4,000) are the only two defensemen from Vancouver worth rostering for me.

I actually think both goalies are in play tonight. It looks like Jacob Markstrom ($7,800) will start for Vancouver and Henrik Lundqvist ($7,500) should get the nod against for the Rangers. Lundqvist had a great game against the Canucks earlier this season allowing one goal on 26 shots and picking up 7 DKFP in the process.

This is an interesting slate with some really good teams to use tonight as well as a few other’s that we want nothing to do with. As you can see I am focusing on the Leafs and Blackhawks game as well as the Oilers. This sample lineup also leaves you $5,650 per remaining player.

Reminder: This is a sample lineup to show you how you can begin your build for tonight’s slate and is not meant to be a plug and play lineup
