DraftKings EuroLeague Basketball Picks March 14

It’s another unbalanced DraftKings EuroLeague slate with most of the action – and the stars – in play today. With the pricing, we are likely to have to choose between James and Shved again today. Last week the choice was none of the above. Is that the case again today?

Injuries are a key factor again today, with the big one being Anthony Randolph ruled out for Real Madrid. Janis Strelnieks, Janis Timma, Antanas Kavaliauskas, Paulius Jankunas, Luke Nelson, Ognjen Kuzmic, Melwin Pantazar, Anthony Gill, Laurynas Birutas, and Arturas Gudaitis join Randolph on the out list.

Jordan Mickey and Xavier Rabaseda both travelled with their teams, and are closer to probable than questionable. Word has come out that Nate Wolters is expected to play, so that saps some Zalgiris value. Devin Booker, Eulis Baez, Trey Thompkins, Andrew Harrison, Jake Cohen, Andrea Cinciarini, and Emircan Kosut are all still listed as questionable, so keep an eye on these.

The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!

For DraftKings EuroLeague, we can’t expect 5x value like in the NBA. Most winning lineups are around 180-200 DraftKings points, which is around 3.5 – 4x value.

DraftKings EuroLeague Guards:

It comes down to Mike James and Alexey Shved again. Both weren’t up to par last week, and James only had 33 DraftKings points against Olympiacos the first time around. Shved missed the game against Real Madrid, but this doesn’t look like a particularly great matchup for him either. Meanwhile, the only other five figure guard gets Gran Canaria. Toney Douglas will put up some big numbers if this game isn’t a blowout. I can see a fade of James and Shved here.

Okay, I guess I forgot about Sergio Llull because he struggled the first time around against Khimki. Llull’s production has been hit and miss. I would go with Scottie Wilbekin over Llull, and I don’t like that matchup either.

I think I’m off of all Zalgiris guards today. Nothing has been announced, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Wolters is on a minutes limit. The return of Wolters alone is going to siphon some of the value from Marius Grigonis in what is not a good matchup anyway. Shane Larkin is a much better play for around the same price.

Vasilije Micic and Khrunoslav Simon both had good games against Tel Aviv in the first meeting, but their production hasn’t been all that consistent lately. Micic is the guy I’m going after if I want one, but I still think I’m just going to play Larkin. Or we can avoid this whole thing and move into the middle tier with Nemanja Nedovic. Nedovic put up 35 DraftKings points in the first meeting against Olympiacos, but he hasn’t been close to that total since.

Not only is Thomas Walkup not really priced as a bargain anymore, the return of Wolters is going to directly affect his minutes. Walkup played well with Wolters out, but I don’t think we can count on Zalgiris to keep giving him minutes at the expense of Grigonis. There are better value plays.

Maodo Lo is one of them. He doesn’t have much for upside, but Lo is the most consistent Munich guard in terms of performance. He hasn’t been under double digit DraftKings points since January 9th. Curtis Jerrells hasn’t been under since February 1st.

Briante Weber is still a superb value at $5,700. He has 48.75 DraftKings points in his three EuroLeague games so far. Jaycee Carroll and Dogus Ozdemiroglu are the only other cheap options I would consider unless we get word that Andrew Harrison is playing. If Harrison is in, I want a piece!

DraftKings EuroLeague Forwards:

Brandon Davies put up 36 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Munich, but a repeat seems unlikely. Davies has been very inconsistent because his minutes are too. I would rather use Malcolm Thomas despite the less than ideal matchup with Real Madrid, especially if Mickey is still out. Add to that the fact that Thomas wont have to deal with Randolph, and I’m liking this more and more.

More from FanSided

Tarik Black has five straight rounds of between 22 and 28 DraftKings points. That kind of consistency is really hard to come by, especially in the EuroLeague. Black is a strong play in any type of game today.

Derrick Williams went nuts on Zalgiris in the first meeting, putting up 45.25 DraftKings points. The bad news is that Williams has been nowhere near that total since. Williams has only topped 30 DraftKings points twice since the beginning of the year. A repeat seems very unlikely here.

I was off of Danilo Barthel last week because of a tough matchup. All he did was top 25 DraftKings points for the third straight game. The upside on Williams and Nikola Milutinov is probably better, but Barthel’s floor is much higher.

I would honestly consider playing the whole tier of $9,000 guys today. Good matchups are abound, and even Vladimir Micov hit 25 DraftKings points against Olympiacos in the first meeting. The one that could go the most under the radar is Gustavo Ayon. I love him in his match with Randolph out and Thompkins ailing. Walter Tavares is worth a look as well.

Jacob Wiley has turned in two strong performances for Gran Canaria, a team that sorely needed it. Michael Eric and Marcus Eriksson are the only two in this tier that have come close to his production lately. Eriksson came up big in the first game with Darussafaka, but he may take a bit of a hit with Wiley around. Still, I have no issue using both of them here today.

There is a big drop to the value tier tonight since I don’t trust most of the options in between Kostas Papanikolaou has been one of the most consistent value tier plays and has a great matchup against Milan today. Angelo Caloiaro has played well lately.

Kaleb Tarczewski is probably the best option for Milan up front. He has 64.75 DraftKings points in the three games since his return, and his price has actually went down! Enjoy this value!

If you need to go cheaper, Zanis Peiners and Stanton Kidd are options, but neither are a consistent option. You can even throw Oguz Savas in that bin as well. That’s what Darussafaka does, and it makes it tough to predict which one will get run.
