DraftKings EuroLeague Basketball Picks March 15
Beware the Ides of March. That applies for the DraftKings EuroLeague too. There are only three games today, so we can’t afford to make a wrong pick. Who is on my radar? Where is the value? Let’s check!

Injuries aren’t as big of a factor as yesterday. Matt Lojeski, Nikola Ivanovic, Aleksa Ilic, Mikhail Kulagin, Jayson Granger, and Tornike Shengelia are all out.
The big question today is the status of Goga Bitadze. Podgorica has been very quiet about his status all through his knee injury/discomfort. I am going to assume he’s not playing, but keep an eye on this. Podgorica isn’t going to push their star teenager if he’s really hurting.
Joffrey Lauvergne, Matt Janning, Tyler Ennis, and Konstantinos Mikoglu join the questionable ranks as well. Janning looks closer to doubtful than questionable. The others we will have to wait for confirmation on.
The rotations can be frustrating sometimes as more players see the court than in your average NBA game. The games themselves are also shorter, playing four ten minute quarters as opposed to 12 minutes in the NBA. The court is smaller, the lane is bigger, and the three point line is closer, but the action is still what you would expect from world class basketball!
For DraftKings EuroLeague, we can’t expect 5x value like in the NBA. Most winning lineups are around 180-200 DraftKings points, which is around 3.5 – 4x value.

DraftKings EuroLeague Guards:
Nick Calathes is on a tear anyway, and he racked up 44 DraftKings points on CSKA in the first meeting. He’s the highest priced guy on the slate today, but he is probably my favorite play of the entire round of all of the 16 teams. I’m willing to pay it today. He’s still cheaper than James and Shved yesterday.
if Norris Cole had played enough games to qualify, he would be the second leading scorer in the league behind Mike James. That’s how good he has been. Good is one thing. Consistency is another. Cole has had serious issues with consistency. Baskonia is in the middle of the pack defensively, so we could see a good game from Cole. I’m just not sure I’m willing to fade Calathes to find out.
Olympiacos has allowed the fewest fantasy points to guards this year, and the next tier is full of CSKA guards. I’m ignoring all of them. I’m also not crazy about the Barcelona guards against Fenerbahce. I could maybe get on board with Kostas Sloukas, but I would rather pay for Calathes and find a bargain.
Luca Vildoza is a very good play, but it was Marcelinho Huertas that had the better game against Podgorica the first time around. Both of the Baskonia guards are strong plays for Friday, and I actually may be leaning a little towards Huertas since he is playing well lately. Vildoza is far more consistent though.
Edwin Jackson ravaged Baskonia for 40 DraftKings points in the first meeting, which was his best game of the year. Jackson’s second best was last round against Olympiacos, a really good defensive team. Jackson could be sneaky good here, especially if Bitadze sits again.
You could probably play Marko Guduric for the nice floor, but in a GPP format, I would prefer to take the chance on Jackson breaking the slate. The return of Keith Langford has sapped the value from him and Sean Kilpatrick since they are splitting the production that Kilpatrick was getting to himself with Langford out. There’s no reason to pay for either of them.
Bargain hunters have a whole lot of inconsistency to choose from. Nemanja Gordic has the best matchup. Lukas Lekavicius and Kevin Pangos are the most consistent. However, today there is a huge risk that you’ll get single digits from a value play. It’s not usually this big of a risk.
DraftKings EuroLeague Forwards:
You have to go all the way back to December to find the last time Johannes Voigtmann was under 20 DraftKings points. That certainly explains the high price. Vincent Poirier does steal some of his thunder, but it certainly hasn’t hurt the consistency. Shavon Shields doesn’t have the upside of the other two,. but he has put up 84.25 DraftKings points over the last three games.

Will Clyburn actually has the better matchup considering he racked up 43 DraftKings points in the first meeting with Athens. For the price, I don’t mind moving down the Clyburn. I also like the upside here.
Jan Vesely has slowed down again, and Ioannis Papapetrou has had some good games, but we can’t play him just because he has a fun name. We need some kind of consistency to use him with confidence.
Deshaun Thomas is a more consistent answer to Papapetrou. Othello Hunter has been a force over the last two games, putting up 62.25 DraftKings points in the last two games. There’s a chance he keeps it going against a weaker Athens front.
If Adam Hanga is back into the starting rotation, I would consider him against a Fenerbahce team that he put up 32 DraftKings points on earlier this year. The only suitable pivot downward is Luigi Datome, but Hanga has fore more upside if he starts.
Kyle Hines and Nikita Kurbanov have provided some nice value for CSKA and DFS players alike. I would go with Hines first, but I really don’t have an issue with using both of them here, even if you use Clyburn. CSKA has by far the best matchup up front today.
Uh oh…..Athens is finally running Thanassis Antetokounmpo. Yeah, he’s not as good as his brother and may never be, but he has been a great DFS player of the last two rounds. I’m riding this until Pitino pulls the plug. Athens has also been starting Georgios Papagiannis. That makes him a very strong value play at $6,000. Thanassis still isn’t starting.
Ilimane Diop could be a popular pick, but a broken nose in practice this week will have him wearing a mask. That could be a good or a bad thing, but most likely bad. I’m staying off of this.
