Shrill, which deals the everyday life of a “fat young woman” (their words) as she attempts to navigate her everyday life as well as trying to change her life for the better.
You might recognize the main character, Aidy Bryant, from Saturday Night Live. The veteran comedian has lent her talents to this series, and that already means that Shrill is already set up for at least some success. After all, anytime a legitimately funny comedian is involved in a project, there are always going to be some good jokes, even if the series is bad.
The good news is that reviews for Shrill have been pretty positive! Collider called it “sharp,” and Vulture called it “funny” and “fabulous” — high praise from consistent reviewers. From what I’ve read, Shrill seems to imagine if Amy Schumer’s I Feel Pretty was actually positive for self-image.
