AAC Tournament: Houston vs. Memphis live stream, score, start time, TV channel
The Memphis Tigers are looking to try and steal the ACC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, but they will need to take down the league’s top team.
The one thing that will terrify bubble teams in the days leading up to Selection Sunday is the presence of bid thieves. Bid thieves shrink the precious at-large pool by sending presumptive favorites like Gonzaga and Nevada into the mix with upsets in the conference tournaments, which has already happened this year.
The AAC has a pair of bid thieves still alive, with the most threatening one being the Memphis Tigers. The Tigers have won their first two games in the AAC Tournament, including an upset of UCF yesterday to earn a semifinal date with Houston.
Isaiah Maurice had a career-high 21 points as the Tigers stampeded the Knights 79-55, helping Penny Hardaway’s squad earn their shot at the Cougars. Memphis will need to step up its game to win today, however, as the Cougars have been one of the nation’s best teams all season long.
Houston absolutely annihilated UConn in its opening game, beating the Huskies 84-45 to send Dan Hurley’s team packing. Corey Davis Jr scored 22 for the Cougars, who won the AAC’s regular season crown by two games and are looking to secure the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The two squads met once in the regular season, with Houston scoring a 90-77 home win back on Jan. 6. This matchup takes place on a neutral floor, but with the tournament being held in Memphis it will end up being closer to a true home game for the Tigers, which could be huge for Memphis’ chances.
