Jordan Peele’s Us is set to be the most exciting horror event of the season, and with the film having received an official classification we now know exactly how long it is.

The incredible Get Out was released almost exactly two years ago and instantly propelled its creator Jordan Peele from a highly-regarded comedy writer to one of the most promising horror directors of the modern era.

That film was instantly garlanded with praise, going on to confound expectations for the horror genre by receiving four Oscar nominations, winning Peele an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Following Get Out is one heck of a tall order, but everything we’re hearing about Us indicates that lightning can strike twice.

The film hits cinemas next Friday, March 22 and, now that it is has received an MPAA R-rating, we can report exactly how long it is to the second.

According to both the MPAA and the BBFCUs is 116 minutes and 28 seconds long.

I’m more excited about Us than I have been for any horror film since last year’s A Quiet Place.  As a huge fan of the genre, I couldn’t be happier that we seem to be in a horror golden age, and a lot of credit for this goes to producer Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions.

Responsible for films like Insidious, Paranormal Activity, Halloween and The Purge, Blumhouse’s strategy is to allow writers and directors to prove themselves by giving them the freedom to make relatively low budget movies the way they want to.

It’s proved a winning formula, with their big horror franchises proving some of the most profitable in modern cinema and their prestige pictures like Get Out, BlacKkKlansman and (hopefully) Us receiving critical acclaim and awards season attention. Long may their success continue!

In the meantime, I’ll be seeing you next Friday when I fully expect to be hiding behind my popcorn at what’s crawled out of Peele’s demented imagination.
