College baseball rankings: FanSided Top 25 – Mississippi State keeps climbing
By Ethan Lee
Another week, another new No. 1 in the FanSided College Baseball Top 25 rankings.
The Vanderbilt Commodores, a week ago, were the best college baseball team in the country. However, Vandy blew it against the Texas A&M Aggies this past weekend, and losing that series is sending the Commodores down in the rankings a bit. But that makes room for new teams to move towards the top.
Like UCLA, Stanford, and Mississippi State for example.
After Vanderbilt (and previously LSU) vacated the top spot of the FanSided College Baseball Top 25 rankings, the Bruins, Cardinal, and Bulldogs have solidified themselves as the top three ranked teams here.

Teams on the rise
UCLA and Mississippi State. The two teams that battled for the 2013 College World Series title are looking to be fairly dominant this season. The now top-ranked Bruins are 14-4 so far this season and they’re fresh off of a series victory over the Oregon State Beavers.
Meanwhile, the now No. 3 Mississippi State Bulldogs are currently 18-2 on the season and have most recently claimed a series from the Florida Gators in Gainesville. Chris Lemonis, in his first year, appears to have a team ready to make a run at claiming the Southeastern Conference and then head on up to Omaha.
Teams sliding down
After a ton of movement this past week due to teams losing in some shocking ways, there were plenty of teams that have fallen pretty far in the FanSided College Baseball Top 25 rankings. One of the most notable would be No. 17 Florida. That Gators started the season at No. 3, behind LSU and Vanderbilt respectively. Now, none of those three teams are ranked in the top three and Florida has fallen the farthest, landing at 17.
But, well, misery loves company (not that being ranked No. 17 is really a bad thing as there’s plenty of season still left ahead for the Gators), and the Florida State Seminoles have dropped pretty far as well. Florida State plummeted out of the top 10, falling from No. 8 last week to No. 21 this week after losing their series to the North Carolina State Wolfpack in painful fashion.
