Us finally has its premiere on March 22, and in addition to the traditional 2D screen, many are wondering if this film will be in IMAX or 3D.
Us, a terrifying new nightmare from Jordan Peele, will be released to much hype and anticipation on March 22.
One question on movie goer’s minds is if Us will be shown in IMAX or 3D?
That’s a great question, given Hollywood’s knack for putting their blockbuster movies in both formats. The latest to get the IMAX/3D treatment was Marvel’s Captain America, which made bank off of IMAX and 3D ticket sales. So one can’t fault Peele or Universal Pictures for debating on whether or not to show Us in either IMAX or 3D.
Well, we went searching to see if Us will be on the extra-big screen or in 3D glasses format, and the answer is a bit mixed. For 3D fans, you’re going to be disappointed as Us will not be offered in that medium. For IMAX, that’s where it gets muddy.
For most around the country, Us will be scaring you in the traditional 2D screen, but, for some bigger markets, Us could be available in IMAX. In San Antonio, you can catch Us at the Santikos Palladium IMAX near Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and in Los Angeles, you’ll be scared to death at the AMC CityWalk Hollywood and Century City 15.
Now, I say “could be” because the movie times were through Bing (though I did find the IMAX showtimes for the Santikos Palladium on its website), so it’s not set in stone as to whether or not Us will be widely available in IMAX. The best advice I could give IMAX fans is to check with your local theaters to see if Us will be shown in IMAX.
