Cornerback. Georgia. Deandre Baker. 27. player. 28.

The Oakland Raiders final first round pick in 2019 will come at pick No. 27, the selection they got from the Dallas Cowboys for Amari Cooper. While Cooper helped the Cowboys to the NFC East title after being traded at the deadline, the jury is out as to whether or not he was worth a first round pick, as he has had issues with being consistent in his career.

With that No. 27 overall pick, Oakland should look to  get better in the secondary, and the cornerback spot is one of need heading into the draft. Gareon Conley stepped up big time for the team last season, becoming one of the elite corners in the AFC West, but this is a position group  that needs more depth.

When it comes to this draft class, there are three legitimate first round cornerbacks, and Deandre Baker from Georgia is certainly one of them. Baker is a guy the Raiders could slide right into the starting lineup alongside Conley as a rookie, adding him to a group that should be much-improved next season.

Oakland has offered a second-round tender on Daryl Worley, and they did draft Nick Nelson in the fourth round last season. In addition, newly acquired safety Lamarcus Joyner can play slot corner, so adding Baker to this collective group could finally make the cornerback position a strength for Oakland for the first time in a long time.
