48. Bobby Hurley, Arizona State

It’s fitting that the man Oats replaced at Buffalo comes in just ahead of him on this list. Hurley guided Buffalo to its first NCAA Tournament appearance before accepting the head job at Arizona State, where he has taken the Sun Devils to the dance twice in his five years at the helm.

47. Greg Gard, Wisconsin

Since succeeding Bo Ryan in the middle of the 2015 season, Gard has done a solid job at Wisconsin, guiding the Badgers to three NCAA Tournament appearances in four years. It remains to be seen if Gard can take the programs to the heights Ryan did in the future.

46. Mike White, Florida

After guiding Louisiana Tech to three straight NIT appearances, White got his break and became the head coach at Florida. The Gators have made three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament since 2017, including a trip to the Elite Eight that year.

45. Mike Hopkins, Washington

Long presumed to be the coach in waiting at Syracuse, Hopkins moved on to Washington after Jim Boeheim decided to extend his career. The Orange’s loss has been Washington’s gain, with the Huskies going 47-21 since Hopkins took over and winning the Pac-12’s regular season title this year.
